I'm not sure which is more sad - the plummet from national TV star to ensemble member at the seedy Kirk, or the tragic surgery that gave her Rosie Perez' former face...

If you read the linked interview, she just shot a New Normal and they just hired her to come back for another episode. Plus she has done an Adam Sandler movie coming out next year, and another movie.

Wait, I'm kinda confused here. I thought Cheri Oteri was Jen Cody. I read somewhere they were both the same person. :-/

She totally is Jen Cody! Ha!

I actually saw it with Perez Hilton and it was really funny and kind of campy. I'm really wanted to go back with Andrea McArdle, because I love her, and now Cheri! What to do?!?

I thought this show was one of the worst things I've seen in recent memory, so just about anyone entering its cast has my sympathy. Or pity. Or both.

How are they landing all these people? Can they afford it? Are people actually still going to see this?

The theater was completely full when I saw it. And, everyone was having a really good time. I'm guessing it's like SNL, sometimes funnier than others. But the night I saw it it seemed like everyone had a great time. And Christine Pedi as Liza opposite Leslie Kritzer's Gaga was pretty spectacular and well worth the trip in itself.

Christine Pedi's Liza was the only thing I liked about it. Much of the cast had been involved with "Forbidden Broadway" at some point in time, so I was hoping for something much better. Too much of this just laid there.

What is truly sad is someone who enjoys pointing out someone else's misfortunes - or worse, when he/she attempts to point out misfortunes that don't actually exist.

Cheri Oteri was and is an attractive woman, having had surgery or not. Just my opinion. Have an opinion too, fine. But why go out of your way and be a D*** about it?

Well, Pauly, you may want to consider the fact that some people feel that it's tragic that women feel they must turn their faces and bodies into ridiculous plastic cartoons in order to feel valued. And that some if us think this trend deserves nothing but the most vicious mockery, or else people like you will sit back complacently thinking there's nothing wrong with self-destructive mutilation.

New...

Really? Really? You think Cheri Oteri fits in the category of someone who looks like a ridiculous plastic cartoon? And that she deserves to be viciously mocked? Or is it others you feel that way about, and you arbitrarily chose to mock Cheri Oteri as a protest against all “self-destructive mutilators”?

Cheri Oteri may have had some work done, but there’s nothing obviously extensive. I have not seen anything that makes her look cartoonish other than various bits she has done in her professional life as a comic actress. She still looks like Cheri Oteri, and there isn’t anything tragic about the choices she has made (or not made) for herself. She does not deserve to be the “newintown” appointed poster child for woman who deserve to be viciously mocked. In fact, no one deserves that!

There are various hate-mongering individuals and groups that mock (and more) those they choose to target – for any number of illogical reasons – and because they disagree with a specific choice (and right) of those they target - whether it was indeed a choice or not. Have you been a victim of this sort of thing? Or are you one of the perpetrators who has no reasonable motive?

I wouldn't have said it if I didn't mean it Pauly. Sometimes you have to be cruel to be kind.

Personally, I find it repellent to champion the current repellent myth that a woman has to start going under the knife at 35 if she wants to remain of value.

"Personally, I find it repellent to champion the current repellent myth that a woman has to start going under the knife at 35 if she wants to remain of value."

And being cruel to a woman about her looks and the personal choices she makes helps us move away from this myth how exactly?......

New…

Many people find the (legal) choices one makes (or doesn’t make but is perceived to make) repellent and will speak out against a particular person or group – and like you be true to their convictions and also be cruel in their delivery of the message. Sometimes they will do more than be verbally cruel. Is that OK with you too? A person of dissimilar like-mindedness must be beat into submission to show everyone this behavior is wrong. Show the way of the righteous. Be cruel to be kind. Is this your message? If not, you’re failing because this is exactly what you’re preaching.

In the case of Cheri Oteri, you don’t know she has gone under the knife. But if she has, you don’t know the reasons. You don’t KNOW anything. Yet you have absolutely no problem being cruel with your remarks regarding her. Further, you see fit to spew those ugly remarks in a thread that has nothing to do with personal appearance and/or the choices one makes regarding his/her appearance. You appear to enjoy being cruel and seek out opportunities to prove it. You have succeeded. Well done.

What it boils down to, Pauly, is that you see nothing immoral in encouraging the victimization (legal or not) of woman who are coerced into thinking that they require unnecessary surgery that provides a bad imitation of youth in order to remain of value.

Perhaps one day, you'll change your mind and see the immorality of this stance, but until then, there's really not much reason to discuss it any further - I believe that I'm taking the high road here, and neither of us seems inclined to change our minds.

Disturbingly, your bizarre implication that expressing an opinion is similar to committing physical violence is a clear sign that your rhetoric has become totally unrelated to reality.

"What it boils down to, Pauly, is that you see nothing immoral in encouraging the victimization (legal or not) of woman who are coerced into thinking that they require unnecessary surgery that provides a bad imitation of youth in order to remain of value."

This is garbage. I have said nothing indicating I have a stance on anything you said in this sentence. I do defend ones right to modify the way he/she looks, not when coerced but because he/she may desire it for a varity of reasons unrelated to erroneous self value. And in the specific case of Cheri Oteri, we don't know (once again) why she may want to modify her appearence with a procedure - surgical or not - unnecessary or not, or that she actually has.

I am defending Cheri Oteri and those like her who are targets of undeserved cruelty, and I am not debating the moralism of the coercion behind SOME surgical procedures. I agree with you (in part) with respect to perceived self value and the faulty thinking that SOMETIMES leads to unnecessary surgical modifications to personal appearance. But I am not and have not argued for or against this concept to this point. You keep trying to make me the opposition of that specific argument - one I have not participated in.

You also missed the mark thinking I was implying an opinion is similar to committing physical violence. I did however imply that you seem to have something in common with those who would harm someone physically because of choices they made for themeselves. Not that you would specifically abuse someone physically for those choices, but that your form of cruelty - and more specifically the (faulty) reason for it - is about as classy.

Life is hard - and sometimes extremely hard. You seem to want to make if even more difficult - and worse, seem to enjoy it. I don't mean with respect to me, someone who is just another anonymous blowhard. But Cheri Oteri has done nothing to make you think she isn't anything but a decent human being. You don't know her. Why treat her the way you have here? Sometimes you have to be cruel to be kind? Not real classy...and actually quite disgusting.

If that's what gets you through the night, Pauly, then you should keep on believing it. But you should also be aware that you've taken what began as a rather mild and admittedly mean-spirited joke and turned it into a Frankenstein monster. Perspective, Pauly, perspective - it's a lovely thing to have.
