Hiptix were pretty far back, but the view was fine. And the legroom was better than I had been lead to believe, although yes, bad for tall people. Still, I would rather be in the second row!
Usually HIPTIX @ Studio 54 are dreadful. I remember Sunday in the Park at the theater and those rear mezz seats are so cramped I was miserable the entire time.
That said few years ago I decided to Upgrade my HIPTIX acct to HIPTIX Gold which gaurantee's 2 ORCH seats for each performance. Tonight I'm seeing Drood, Orchestra E10-12. Definitely far house right but for $22 I'll take it!

I might upgrade to Hiptix Gold when my mother comes to visit so we can get orchestra seats.
Be careful. The Hiptix program is specifically for people aged 21-35. According to the program's rules, if you purchase 2 tickets, your guest must also be between the ages.
Some box office personnel are stricter about this than others. Some will insist on seeing both your IDs before they let you pick up your tickets. One of my good friends got a pair of Hiptix for one of Roundabout's off-Broadway shows, and he brought his mom, but the box office would not let her into the theater, or refund the ticket.

Thanks, Yero, I did see that. I think the rule is different for Hiptix Gold--the website says that only one of the two tickets needs to be the right age with that membership.
When I go to TDF for Drood, it says "Seats will be in the Mezzanine." Is this a new policy?

gstrus2 I can't speak specifically about Drood but on many occasions with TDF I have seen the "Seats Will Be In The Mezzanine" and when I got tere I was given orchestra tickets. Most recently this happened for me at Virginia Wolf.
"I'd rater be nine peoples favorite thing, than a hundred peoples ninth favorite thing"
I saw Drood last night with my TDF ticket and wanted to report in!
First, the show was of course fabulous and a must see.
Second, when I bought the ticket, TDF claimed it would be in the mezzanine but I was actually at the rear of the orchestra. Right after I sat down an usher came and asked if I wanted to move and then put me in the third row center. For me it was definitely worth it doing TDF over Hiptix!
Note: The theater had a lot of empty seats, so I'm pretty sure no one with Hiptix actually saw the show from rear mezzanine.
perhaps YMMV but I've never had an issue when my guest is 35+. Just to be safe, go to the box office by myself in case there is any question but never been an issue for me.
Also, with HIPTIX Gold you have to be Gold to purchase orchestra seats but you don't have to be Gold when you actually see the show. So to be smart, I purchase as many tix as I can before my current membership expires and then wait as long as possible to renew. Usually I can see 15-18 months of shows with my 12mo membership.
