Has anyone seen this show yet? I couldn't find any threads about it. I love Colman Domingo, and planned on seeing it this week but Sandy has put a stop to that. I wonder if the Public will extend all the shows that have been put on hold this week because of the Hurricane.
Saw it a couple of weeks ago. I think the performances and the direction are better than the material (sorry Colman)....the patter of the dialogue is at times hilarious....and there are a few very sweet moments, but as the Times (I think) said it comes across like something written by Tyler Perry's hipper cousin.
I have to agree wholeheartedly with Young Sally. It is a gorgeous production of a play with startling crisp performances, spot on direction and amazing production quality. Too bad the play underneath doesn't quite add up. There are indeed hysterical parts of dialogue but I feel this show is too personal to Coleman to work as a whole. Coleman probably has a great play in him somewhere but this isn't it.
