One of Hollywood's longest married couples, Danny DeVito and Rhea Perlman have split after 30 years of marriage. They both founded Jersey Films, a production company that produced films including Pulp Fiction and Garden State. I am surprised by this because I thought they would still be happy after 30 years of marriage.
And I was just thinking the other day if they were going to attend the Broadway premiere of Matilda since they starred/directed/produced the movie, which, btw, I really hated!
I deserve that Snafu. If I can plead my case....I met Danny at a premiere and he'd had a few drinks. He got handsy and was flirtatiously tugging on my back hair. We were in the limo when Rhea burst in, furious. Danny claims he thought I WAS Rhea and didn't notice I wasn't until she started screaming.
I've been the "Lucky Pierre" or "intermission man" in dozens of Hollywood couples- Arnold and Maria, Brad and Jennifer, Ben and Matt. I would never have gone back to the limo if I'd known the havoc I'd cause....
beautywicked, don't forget to add the 11 years they'd lived together before they got married (which in itself is longer than most Hollywood marriages, it seems). So this split comes after at least 41 years.
Love this comment from the huffpost story: "DeVito and Schwarzenegger really are twins after all."
I think there are at least two videos around that show him seriously trashed at inappropriate times. Once on The View and once on another morning TV show. Not that that necessarily has anything to do with the breakup. But sometimes longevity is not mean happiness. My in-laws, for example, have been together for sixty years, and I think they've hated each other for the entire time. But each one's dysfunction serves a purpose for the other.
My own experience w Mr DeVito was very positive. He liked me and we interacted well. BUT there were a couple of people- whom he seemed to rub the wrong way. AND yes he did appreciate women but frankly i never saw him behave in any way other than professionally on set.
Now that doesn't mean he wasn't trying it on, it's just when u r producing, directing and even acting in a piece of work- schtupping comes pretty close to dead last in yr priorities. OFF duty, in his production Co... who knows.
About three weeks ago, I was arguing with someone. I was convinced I'd read they were splitting. But my friend turned out to be right when we couldn't find anything. I'm a clairvoyant!
