I saw this stuff announced a few days back -- some very exciting stuff. I can't imagine dropping that much money on those big sets, but I'm glad that things like THE BIG PARADE will be coming out.
Joe, they sell decently enough. It costs very little to produce the sets because it's just already released titles essentially bundled together. I bought a few of those collections when I first began buying dvds.
The one I'm still pissed about is Calvalcade. It's the only Oscar winner not available as a stand alone. To get that title you have to but the Fox 75th anniversary set for a hefty $351.00.
I think it's out in region 2, which does me no good.
I finally got a Blu-ray player to watch the Metropolitan Opera Ring cycle, since I wanted to be able to see it as good as it could be seen on my HDTV.
Since HQ stuff has become so easily downloadable, I'm not in a hurry to buy Blu-ray discs. And the Blu-ray player makes my old DVDs look even better on the new TV. But is there any Blu-ray box set or bundle or standalone that is so good, I should run out and get it?

I spent a lot of years selling "Special edition" DVDs- I just wondered if the trick still worked. It's hard to imagine that people will still buy repackagings of films they've already bought at least 3 or 4 times.
Carlos, just out of curiousity, what's your issue with the WSS and MFL blu-rays? I admit, I don't own either, though I keep on planning to buy them. I liked the last deluxe "regular" DVD release of WSS a lot, though I know a *lot* of people had issue with apparently bad sound synching during Tonight, something I somehow have never noticed, which was fixed I believe for the BluRay.
Animation works particularly well in BluRay because the frame right is much closer to film, so essentially you see the cells (well, back when they used cells) as originally filmed. Regular DVDs also often had visual noise issues with animation.
Please tell me Liza recorded a commentary track for Cabaret. Her commentary track for Liza with a Z is one of my faves...
The MFL blu-ray has some blurriness and haziness...it could have been so much better. On WSS the Overture's fade out/fade in to the main title goes completely back (which it should not) and the dupes are in really bad shape.
What could possibly make the Wizard of OZ Blu-ray more phenomenal than my memory of seeing it on the remastered DVD for the first time, when I gasped aloud at Dorothy's freckles?
I don't think that even-sharper freckles will do it for me again.
