I'm excited to see the show, but isn't the Beaumont kind of a big venue for a solo piece? I have no doubts that Ms. Taylor can more than fill the space, but still.
Oh it's a solo piece? That is quite the space for it. To think that such a huge show like WarHorse played the same theater as an intimate solo piece? Hm.
^play and no, someone who was terribly misinformed on here tried to convince us that was what was going in, but its taking a midtown theater that hasn't been announced yet.
I saw the play at Kennedy Center's Eisenhower Theatre in January. While I loved Ann Richards as a politician and Holland Taylor is doing an amazing job impersonating her, this is a big mistake to bring to the Vivian Beaumont Theatre. It should go to off-Broadway where it would be most welcome.
The reviews that the show received in D.C. weren't very favorable for the play itself, only raves for Ms. Taylor's performance. I guess this is a way to keep the Beaumont open while awaiting its next tenant, hopefully not "The King and I." How many times can one hear, "Getting to Know You"? From today's review of the Chicago production of "Sweet Bird of Youth" in "The Times," I would think that it would be a much better suited revival to play in this space.
