I have the 1990 re-release (I think), and it has everything, including all the versions of "Out on a Limerick," "Murderer's Confession", the "Word from the Chairman," but not the lovers' duet (which I don't think was ever recorded).
Me too! I only just recently heard An English Subject (one of our very own BWW members was in a production). It's a good song too, but I do love Ceylon.
On a side note:
bk recorded two cut songs on his Lost in Boston series.
One is an alternate song to There You Are and the other sounds like a duet between Rosa and Crisparkle.
Both are good and are completely original, not reused melodies.
Does anyone know Verve's track record on recording full scores? Not to show a bias, but if it was PS Classics doing the recording, I'm positive we'd get the whole score.
^This isn't a new recording. They can only include material that was previously recorded. "Ceylon" and the "Moonfall" quartet are not part of the licensed score which is probably why they're not included here. (Although, from what I understand "A Man Could Go Quite Mad" is also not part of the licensed score.)
This makes me think there will be no (or at least there are no plans for)cast recording of the upcoming revival? Still holding out hope - I would love this cast to record the show!
I was kind of hoping the itunes version would fix the beginning of "No Good Can Come From Bad," but apparently it's just messed up on all copies? To me, it's always sounded like the first second or so of the song is actually missing.
I'm still hopeful. IDK if it really means anything for sure; the ANYTHING GOES revival recording with Patti LuPone had a re-release a few months after the recent revival opened and we still got a 2011 recording of that.
If they do record the revival, I hope there's a track similar to "A Word From Your Chairman" from the OBC. That's one of my favorite tracks and there's not even any singing on it!
