I certainly none of the actors (and other professionals) turned down other offers of work, I'm thinking this isn't going to be happening.
(When Godspell got cancelled - when Gavin Creel was attached - wasn't that only over 1 million they fell short?)
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?

If they were a $1 million short maybe they could raise money in a few weeks. But $4.5 million, that's going to be next to impossible. But good luck. I was looking forward to the show.
The situation with Rebecca differs from the situation with Godspell in that it's money that was pledged and is now tied up in the courts due to the death of an investor. I would imagine that one way or another that money will eventually go back to them. With Godspell it was a case of that money never being there to begin with (I don't remember if they just never found the backers to cover them or if an investor pulled out, but either way, the money was definitely not there, not just delayed like it appears to be with Rebecca).
Did you know that every day Mexican gays cross our borders and unplug our brain-dead ladies?
For a show thats supposed to start next month, they haven't even bothered to fully remove the STREETCAR signs yet. And right next door MATILDA (a show not starting until MARCH) is all over the Shubert.
This show is dead in the water.

Willis in Ghettoland?" - Dave19, in reference to the new ANNIE remake.
AEA -- as always-- thanks for the clarification. Sometimes its those simple things that get away from me!

Jordan, the situation is greatly different when it comes to marquees. Rebecca was due to start moving in the day after Streetcar's load out was completed due to the fast turn around of the house, so no marquee COULD be put up until load-in was reasonably under way. This snafu with the death of an investor put a stoppage to ALL work until a solution is found and set in stone. The producer would not - and should not - be spending a cent until this situation is fully ironed out. News should be due very soon.. As was previously said, the money is there. It does exist. But the death has caused an issue that needs to be ironed out so that the production can, hopefully, proceed. This is a case of very unfortunate circumstances, not a producer who didn't raise the required funds.
The only story her is that Rebecca is delayed for 2 weeks, due to the death of a prominent investor, if there was more of a story Riedel would of been picking off the caucus last week.
