I saw on a message board that they extended for another year? Is that true? I can't imagine it because Jackie had vocal issues and was sick in the fourth month of her broadway run. Also, Jackie's attendence despite everyone saying its amazing, she is off like once every two weeks. Chandra, I would say oh cool, but Jackie...I think a new Elphaba is needed.
They did extend. So what if she takes off like every 2 weeks? A lot of other Elphabas did. Jackie's technique is clearly working for her and there is no issue present.
You are idiotic. ALL Elphaba's take a day off. Most of them performed 7 shows a week due to the high score and the toll it took on their voice.
The fact that you think Chandra should stay in the show is the funniest part. An alto should NEVER play a soprano role, and this is the case with her. Anytime she has to go into her upper register she visibly struggles to get there.
And Jackie is the best Elphaba (tied with Idina) that I've seen. She really acts the role for what it's worth. (And she was on when I saw it so I have no basis for judgment on that except what I read here.)
I am idotic because Elphaba's should totally take a day off every week. Of course they can miss but I'm surprised since she takes care of her voice so well, why she would extend and interesting because the board that I saw it on was on innuendo outuendo. Good for Alli Mauzey. I personally liked Chandra. Maybe her voice isn't comletely right for Glinda, but she certainly acts the part very well. I like Jackie but with Wicked's downfall in grosses this past week, I think that a replacement that is interesting to the Wicked Community should replace her. I know its not summer anymore but that was a BIG drop.
Jackie had NOTHING to do with the downfall in profit last week. The summer season is coming to a close. Many people who go to see the show have no prior knowledge of who the Elphaba/Glinda pair will be.
I'm not saying that Jackie did.... I'm saying that it might help to have someone highly appreciated return or someone new and exciting join the cast. As I said, I LIKE Jackie. This is a stupid conversation but I am just saying with the recent downfall it could help by getting someone new. Just my opinion.
90% of the people buying tickets to see WICKED probably don't know Jackie Burns (or Alli Mauzy, or Chandra Schwartz, or Teal Wicks..etc) from a hole in the ground. WICKED has never needed a star or a name to do well.
I'd love to see Mamie on Broadway, if not a new Elphaba. Wicked are known to recycle but I understand, it's a steady job, so why not return with the offer?

I don't know where you get your info from, but Donna posts everytime she goes on. jackie has stellar attendance, if she finsihed this week it will be 5 weeks in a row without missing. She usually misses every 3 1/2 to 4 weeks. She has missed 2 weeks for a vacation as well as all the time off for her wedding. She is not having any vocal issues either, she is one of the most consistent Elphabas. Some people say she is having issues because she isn't as growly, but she was asked to cut the growls from certain aspects of her performance. People also need to realize when an Elphaba misses it isn't always because of vocal issues, they do need personal days too, like any other normal human. Rant over.
This month marks the 1 year anniversary that Jackie and Chandra joined the Broadway company. I saw Chandra on the 1s National Tour back in 2010 I liked her, but not my favorite. Last time I saw the show was last year with Teal and Katie. I personally think that Wicked could use a new Elphaba/Glinda but what's done has been done.
I saw the show a few months ago and Jackie was out. I heard from one of the ushers that she was sick. Donna was BEYOND AMAZING. Jackie is great as well from what I have seen on youtube. I think that Donna should take over for Jackie when Jackie leaves.
RENT_is_Wicked2: Chandra actually greatly improved from her tour performance. I went into the show with KRC being my favorite Glinda, but Chandra runs a close second.
My guess would maybe be Stephanie Torns. Shes leaving the 2nd tour soon so it could be her. Vicki Noon is also a possibility but then they would have to find a new u/s while Donna is out. Also Jackie isnt extending for that long. There will be a new Elphaba by the end of October.

I've heard similar. The original idea was to have Chandra and Jackie leave on 9/23 and have replacements at the same. I have heard that the new Elphaba isn't ready yet, so Chandra is living and then Jackie will when Elphaba is ready.
