Usually you go to the audition, and they have you do a dance routine. They cut who they didn't like, then they have you sing. Again, they cut who can't sing. Then, they have you read scenes. They cut who they don't like. Then they send everyone home, then they review it all, and it could be several days up to several weeks later they have callbacks and bring back the people they really liked, then send everyone home, review it again, then have final callbacks, then usually make a decision. Sometimes there are more then 2 callbacks. That's not always how it works, but that's pretty general.
Every show does it slighty differently. Quiche got the gist, however, unless a performer is auditioning for a dance-heavy role, the dance call does not come first.
