Oddly, I noticed an ad for WICKED in my local Sunday newspaper. I'm in the Allentown, PA area, so shows only run ads for local productions or touring companies. But this ad was for the Broadway production. I thought it was strange, but after seeing the dip, not so much.
Sister Act went out on a somewhat high note. Nice Work needs to do something if it wants a decdent run. Once continues to gross $1 million, I wonder if it'll keep up during September.
Nice Work did take a big hit, but keep in mind that Broderick was on vacation. Most shows dipped but I agree that September will be crucial for this show. Broadway week ticket sales will help and the fall bus tours will pick up now since the summer is over.
Some shows like Book of Mormon actually gross a lot more due to the amount of premium tickets sold and they currently have the highest priced premium seat of any Broadway show.
I've never understood why premium prices are not considered part of the potential sales. Those seats are listed at those prices, after all. It doesn't make sense to have a percentage higher than 100% of gross potential, except in the case of standing room where there were no seats being counted in the potential sales for those standing positions.
Anyone know why these are not counted? (Other than trying to make the percentage numbers look better, anyway)
The scary thing is that at BOM their regular ticket is $155, but their average ticket price is $186 (and has been hovering around there for a while!). Guess they are selling way more premiums then even regular priced tickets which is crazy!
any new show in previews likely gives out a ton of comps to family, friends, producers, sponsors, etc. We'll see how Chaplin does once it officially opens.
