Has Cale Krise left the show?? Playbillvault.com lists Will Blum as the current Elder Cunningham, yet BOM's website has Krise in the role with Blum as the standby. anyone know if and why Krise left the show??
Wait, what? They split the role?! Why? I thought Krise was the new Cunningham. Lord knows I thought his performance was really terrible, but... why are they splitting? Can he just not handle it?
(Also...this means I need to do lotto stat so I can try and see Blum! I must see all the Cunninghams!) Is there a set schedule?
Based on PlaybillVault's updating: Tue-Thu evenings are Blum, both shows on Fri & Sat are Krise and I'm guessing Sun is Blum if they are indeed splitting it 4 & 4. Their schedule changes after Labor Day. However, I wonder if Stone/Parker/Nicholaw are simply seeing which one they want to start the Chicago production in a few months.
Interesting. And strange, since Krise was originally the person given the role after Gertner left for the tour cast. Nothing about Blum was said. I'm going to ask some theatre-industry-pals and see if I can find anything out...again, I thought Krise was awful, so at first when I saw this thread I assumed he was fired.
Firings because one fan doesn't like the performance doesn't happen. Even if scads of fans don't like him, it seldom happens. Audiences (as a whole) love him, and everything about the show. Obviously, ticket sales are going strong, and that's all that matters.
I saw Cale Krise again this week and he was a lot better than when he first started. Back then he wasn't terrible, but he looked in over his head. Both times I saw him, though, the audience ATE HIM UP. (I've also seen Will Blum, who is a lot stronger in the role -- can't wait to see how this pans out.)
I don't know if this is actually the case, but considering Krise started around the same time as rehearsals for the national tour, I had a theory that he wasn't being given the amount of direction and attention he needed because their energies were being spent elsewhere. His performance wasn't really awful so much as it was one that looked like it came out of neglect by the creative team. But as I said, he's a LOT more comfortable in the role now.
Dramamama, where did PB Vault specify the rotation? I don't see it anywhere now, other than Blum doesn't even show up on BoM's main page anymore, but his own entry lists him as Cunningham.
LizzieCurry- Playbill Vault updates the page daily based upon who is on that performance for Cunningham so if Cale is on today, he will show up on the page. If Will is on, they will change it to say that he plays Cunningham.
based on me checking PlaybillVault everyday is how I came up with their schedule. However, Krise is listed for today, so maybe Krise is doing 5 shows/week & Blum 3/week??
I wonder who's been updating the official site and if there've been staff changes -- they were super quick when Andrew, Josh, Jared and Nikki left (and when Nikki came back). Those were changed within hours.
yet Jon Bass is still listed as the Cunningham stanby for the tour. Just checked playbillvault.com, and Will Blum has been moved to standby and Krise has left the show. Why not continue to share the role with Bass??
THE CUNNINGHAMS
Broadway: Jon Bass. Standby: Will Blum Tour: Chris O'Neill. No Standbys Chicago: Ben Platt. Standby: Rob Colletti London: Jared Gertner. Standby: Daniel Buckley
