Standing next to Lea is Monique Wilson, the other Kim in the original production of Miss Saigon in London. She won the audition for the role together with Lea, but it was Lea who opened the show ( Opening Night). Monique continues to perform locally and will soon be seen as Anna in a local production of King and I.
Menchu Lauchengco( Liezl) is also a regular theatre performer.
The other nice looking girl, Risa Hontiveros, is now a political activist and has been a congresswoman.
I never saw this production - so thanks for sharing the clip.
In this clip, grown-up Lea sings one of the most beautiful lullabies ever written, a Filipino composition called SA UGOY NG DUYAN ( THE GENTLE SWAY OF A BABY'S HAMMOCK, poorly translated) written by Filipino national artist Lucio San Pedro. She is wearing a national costume to fit the occasion. Her voice is gentle and soothing as only a mother can sing to her child! But it occasionally soars in classic Lea style.
I still get chills watching the footage of her auditioning/rehearsing for Miss Saigon. Such a talent!
I love, too, how she gets the Les Miz autographs. Like "Hey, before I amaze you, can you sign this for me?" I wonder if she had any idea what her future connection with the show would be.
One of the biggest thirlls of my life was FINALLY meeting her at the stage door after LEZ MIZ
