Hello all,

I was wondering what you all think would look better on a résumé: A professional production of a much lesser known work, or a university production of a somewhat well known play?

Professional Credit.

But why can't you list both?

Well it turns out I did not get the University production. So this question does not matter any more.

A new question has arisen though. My University is doing True West and Angels in America: Millennium Approaches in the spring, and they conflict. I keep flip flopping back and forth on the two. Should I audition for True West? Or should I hold out on Angels?

Can you audition for both? If so, do that so you have a better chance of being in something

Audtion for everything you can. If True West auditions are first, audition. If you get a part, great. If not, audition for Angels.

Additionally, in what ways do they conflict? Are they both faculty directed? MOST times, auditions forms ask for any conflicts, and as long as you are honest about being in the first, they will take that into consideration when casting and creating the rehearsal schedule.

However, you don't drop one to do the other.

My university has two theaters, and we a full production about every two or three weeks. True West is in the black box, and Angels in on the mainstage. True West will still get a fully realized production with a full set. My only hesitation was that Tony Kushner is coming the first week of Angels for a LGBTQ conference/will be at the final invited dress rehearsal and we are having a cast discussion and talkback with him. I would still be able to be in attendance if I get True West. I have another question now. I am trying to find a monologue, but am having difficulty. I want Louis, but would be fine with Joe, or Roy as well. I don't really have the physicality of Prior. I have been looking at Ned Weeks pieces from The Normal Heart, and a little piece of Dustin Lance Black's 8, but does anyone else have other suggestions?
