I just watched the Blu-rays of "Blondes" and "There's No Business Like Show Business," and it was fun seeing him in both.
You know, for someone who had a "minor film career," aside from his Oscar performance, I realized I have him featured in four Blu-rays, and I don't even own that many:
West Side Story White Christmas Gentlemen Prefer Blondes There's No Business Like Show Business
He looks good in Technicolor, too! I could have my own George Chakiris Film Festival.
I also have a DVD with his leading role in "The Young Girls of Rochefort." I absolutely love him in his orange shirt.
What I really like about George Chakiris and this interview was that he is a fair person and he is always defending Natalie Wood and I am glad that he completely disagrees with Rita Moreno on Natalie, her performance and how unhappy he was with Rita's comments against Natalie Wood especially in light of the fact that Natalie Wood isn't alive to defend herself.
To me, Natalie was the perfect Maria and I am so glad he chooses to come to her defense and acknowledge her despite Miss Moreno's backlash.
I have been saying lately that George Chakiris is the man who made me gay.
When my little 11 year old self saw him in those fabulously tight jeans in West Side Story doing that leg extention up to ten o'clock, my hormones increased by a multiplier of a million-billion-trillion.
