Theater producers are pursuing a possible Broadway transfer of the Central Park staging of ¯Into the Woods¯ in spite of several negative reviews last week that would usually put a damper on such plans.
The nonprofit Public Theater, which is producing the revival of Stephen Sondheim-James Lapine musical at its outdoor Delacorte Theater in the park, is working to make the transfer happen with the commercial producer Joey Parnes, with whom the Public previously collaborated on moving its park productions of ¯Hair¯ and ¯The Merchant of Venice¯ to Broadway.
The title of this thread is incredibly misleading. The show has not announced a Broadway transfer. The piece in the Times doesn't have any new information- commercial producers are attached to the show and are exploring the idea of a transfer. It's exactly what everyone has known for months. Nothing is anywhere close to being set in stone.
Also, you should at least link the story you're blindly copying without any attribution.
The title of this thread is what's most offensive to me. You need to at least put a question mark or rephrase to something like "Into the Woods Producers Discusses Possibility of Transfer."
These threads annoy me to no end. It makes it sound like you have some kind of breaking news when in reality the thread says nothing new.
No Phantom, what you forgot to do was link the article and to not post a misleading thread title. That's what you forgot. And even after the suggestion to put a question mark after the title you decided to respond with a smart remark instead of correcting the error.
Phantom is right in his spelling, that's the UK spelling.
However he is completely wrong and the awful tone of that sentence that was highly uncalled for. Other's on here are totally right, the thread is pointless and misleading and a copy and paste job of a news story that he did not credit......And this is from a fellow Brit.
When you say something is going to "head Downtown" it doesn't imply to Broadway, but to somewhere off-Broadway, Downtown.
When I read the title I assumed you meant Into the Woods was transferring Downtown- to the Public. Just because "Broadway" is south of the park, doesn't make it Downtown.
I was staying out of your other fight because I didn't care enough to get involved but Phantom is also a "legend" which seems to contradict your theory. Personally, I rarely notice or care about the status of the poster, unless it's someone who joins and posts 10,000 off topic threads on the same day.
However, if anyone is picking arguments, it's you. This thread had nothing to do with bashing new people and was instead about how messages can be wrongly perceived. You went out of your way to find a thread which you thought proved your point but instead you came to the wrong conclusion. I also responded because this thread was posted on the heels of the article from the Village Voice about annoying posters who title threads in a misleading manner, so I actually initially thought the poster was being facetious.
