The First national tour of The Book Of Mormon Kicks off in Denver tomorrow night (I'm on the west coast). Anyone going during the 5 week Sold out run? Also was anyone at tonights invited dress? I can't wait to see it, when the show comes to Portland in January. Post reviews here!
Wow I find that surprising considering I can't even get two non premium seats in the orchestra for the Broadway production on a Saturday and till NEXT summer.

It's much easier to fill an 1100 seat theater on Broadway than it is to fill a 2500 seat theater on the road. And its not just LA. Apparently ticket sales in Chicago aren't strong (though it's scheduled right now for three months). A friend of mine went to a focus group regarding the show, and when they mentioned tickets were on sale he was surprised...he didn't know tickets were on sale. He said he's noticed very little advertising for the show...but plenty for Kinky Boots.
I have a feeling it's underselling in these markets because they thought they could sell the show on word of mouth and not advertisements. Wicked sold out its run in Chicago during the pre-sale for the tour, which is why it got the sit-down. I'm guessing they thought the same would happen in this instance.
I can't wait to see BoM when it comes to SF. I would have loved to have seen it in NY but tickets for Book Of Mormom on Broadway cost almost as much as my entire SHN subscription. lol
I know because Portland only could book the show for a week, Season subscriptions have been saleing like crazy. on top of That season ticket holders can purchase additional tickets before they go on sale to the general public, Book of Mormon was there hottest show. Luckily my cuz is a premium holder so I have tickets. I think it was smart that the local presenting team could only book a week, those are the shows that have a higher demand on tickets VS. a show with a stretched out 3-4 week run. The only shows to have full sale out runs in are Local Market, for that long period of time have been Wicked and Lion King. Lion King played a full 7 week sold out run when it first came in 2005. And returned 5 years for a 4 week engagement. Wicked has played 3 engagements 1 2 week, and 2 4 week. Mary Poppins, Billy Elliot, and Jersey Boys have come very close in the running.
It's a different company though. I already booked my Chicago ticket, it's really the first time I book this far in advance to see a show, and I've been reserving tickets for shows for around 20 years now. Add to that American Idiot in London in December and Viva Forever in January, it's really something I haven't done this much in advance ever.
