I attended the Saturday matinee today during Ricky Martin's vacation and expected to see Christina DeCicco in the title role. Instead, I had three slips of paper in my Playbill: "Eva Peron will be played by Elena Roger," "Che will be played by Daniel Torres," and "Magaldi will be played by Matt Wall." So I guess Max von Essen wasn't in the house! I enjoyed Torres's performance a lot: great stage presence, voice, etc. And I found it ironic that Elena Roger filled in for her alternate. Ah, summertime!
She wasn't filling in for her alternate. Her vacation began after the show you attended. It was more of a switch. I'm guessing this happened so that she wouldn't miss a day's pay.
I'm still depressed that I did not get to see this yet :/ hopefully later in the fall I will be able to see it... If not then I will probably never get to see it with Elena Roger unless this sticks around through next summer...
Max and Christina were on this evening as Che and Evita. I enjoyed their performances very much. More so than Ricky and Elena, both vocally and performance wise.
