Truthfully, I am not a fan of her voice. I can just tolerate her on some things better than others, and I think her vibrato gets more and more extreme as she gets older and forces more. But I can enjoy some of her performances acting wise.
Agree, re: the comments on her Norma Desmond. Nothing short of brilliant. One of my all time favorite live musical memories (and that list includes seeing Carol Channing in Hello Dolly (the revival--I wasn't born yet when she first did it on Broadway : ), Yul Brynner in The King and I (the revival), Patti LuPone in Gypsy, Angela Lansbury in A Little Night Music, Bernadette Peters in Follies, among others : ). I wish Betty Buckley all the best with her Dear World role in London.
Ok....I've done some googling on the lady. She does sound pretty cool in Carrie and Cats so I think I'm now a semi-fan. (ooooo but the other stuff I found!! Betty has apparently made some enemies! Even Sarah Michelle Geller---Buffy!!! of all people!!!)
