Per her Facebook page:

"The producer announced yesterday! So we are now free to share the news with everyone. Going to London in Dec. to start rehearsals for a brand new version of 'Dear World' directed by the wonderful Gillian Lynne. I'm playing the 'Madwoman of Chaillot', Aurelia. Very exciting. The show opens in Feb. 2013 for an eight week run till end of March at the Charing Cross Theatre. Hope we see y'all in London!"

Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.

Well, at least it's not the Union or the Landor, I guess.

The thing is, she's perfect for this.

Great role, great star, great songs for her to sing.

My point is Betty Lynn is not exactly on the A-List....would Patti work under such circumstances?

Oh, I see your point. Yeah, it is weird that an actress with one of the best voices ever to grace the musical theater stage would choose to go into a new production of one of the most famous never-seen shows ever written that won it's original leading lady a Tony for Best Actress, with the possibilities for it to go on from there being endless.

But then again it's probably just because she'll do anything and is lucky to get a job, right?

With all due respect to Miss Buckley, I think she is lucky to get a job....It's been 15 years since anyone in London or on Broadway would hire her and the fiasco she caused with all her demands for that ill-fated production of Sweeney Todd in Texas must have even made regional theatres nervous too. Hope she gets her ego in check for her "comeback"

All your life, Betty!
"The gods who nurse this universe think little of mortals' cares. They sit in crowds on exclusive clouds and laugh at our love affairs. I might have had a real romance if they'd given me a chance. I loved him, but he didn't love me. I wanted him, but he didn't want me. Then the gods had a spree and indulged in another whim. Now he loves me, but I don't love him." - Cole Porter

Yes, because, for the 900th time- Betty Buckley is the ONLY woman in theater that is difficult to work with!

I hear everybody else is just a pure joy 100% of the time, never make demands, never have outbursts, never are hard on their co-stars, have never had any drug or alcohol problems- everyone else in the industry walks the straight and narrow all the time!

Please.

"and currently houses Naked Boys Singing!!"

Exactly. I can see Dear World and stay for the late show of NBS.

One of the new cast members is very cheeky.

She's a fantastic talent in her role. I've read bits and pieces of Miss Buckley's "difficult nature" in some of her roles. What should the cast and crew of "Dear World"
expect from her...with regards to her role...and "anything else"? Just wondering...from RC in Austin,Texas
