Personally I think there needs to be a sense of classiness and elegance but yet a sense of celebrating and fun for the Oscars and I think Fallon can do both.
I think he could have been... OK. In the current climate, I'm not really sure who would make an ideal host for it. (At least though now we won't have to have Fallon sing every five mins, the one thing about his show that really drives me crazy).
Neil Patrick Harris should host the Oscars. He should host everything. He has that combination of class and humor and warmth that recent Oscar hosts have so grievously lacked. Crystal last year was an embarassment.
Someone I sent this to last week just sent me the link saying Jimmy is gonna pass on it. My friend mentioned a very interesting choice. I laughed at first but I think he would do a damn fine job. He suggested Brian Williams (yeah, the NBC anchor) Before you dismiss it, Brian can be very funny and I think he would be a very odd but interesting choice.
Crystal was pretty bad last year but I don't blame him entirely. I thought the jokes and writing were awful.
