I love the Olympics and am very excited to see the games. However, I am very upset that the IOC would not commemorate the 40th anniversary of the slain Israeli athletes with a moment of silence. Cowardly--and just the wrong thing to do.

I love the Olympics, the Summer Olympics, especially. I'll be watching it around the clock.

How can you NOT love the Olympics?

Very excited for all of it. I totally suspend all my common sense and cynicism filters and just wallow in the Brotherhood of Man (apologies to the Womyn, but 'Siblinghood of People' sounds Orwellian to me) stuff. Love the triumph over adversity stories of the athletes, LOVE Michael Phelps, don't make me choose a gymnast--they're all amazing, And Bob Costas is still one of my favorite Muppets.

There were a few parts I liked, but overall I was disappointed in the opening ceremony. I knew it would be tough to top Beijing, but this didn't come close! I thought I was watching a horrible Super Bowl halftime show during that digital boy meets girl decade of music part. Matt Laur's and Meredith Vieira's commentary got on my nerves too.

What did y'all think of Paul McCartney's performance?

Okay, I'm turning to my trusty theatre/live performance experts here--was Sir Paul profoundly off-key in his singing or was there some echo/feedback/amplification issue making mischief??

I'm notoriously tone-deaf, but I thought he sounded...odd...during 'Hey Jude'.

It sounded to me like McCartney's singing days are over. I hope it was just a bad night though.

Apparently there was sound trouble with the backing tracks in the beginning- totally out of sync.

He did seem strained - particularly in the beginning but finished a lot stronger.

I think McCartney was emotional when he started. I really liked they celebrated the NHS.

With swimmers shaving all their body hair in order to save fractions of seconds, you'd think Phelps would wear something to streamline that. The hydrodynamics around it must slow him down a little.

Pretty much everyone on my twitter feed declared they either want to either a.) marry Ryan Lochte, b.) have his babies or c.) both. All sides of the sexuality and gender spectrum were in.

What's with the long pants and bermuda-style shorts on the men swimmers? Whatever became of speedos? They've runied the only sport that interested me enough to watch.
