I just saw Ghost. And I know a lot of you are going to bash this thread for this but I loved it. I can understand why others don't like it and I know that there is a closing thread but I would like some appreciation and some backing up from people who did like it and thinks it should not be closing within a month. The theater was definitely not sold out but everyone at the end was on there feet at the end and for a Wednesday matinee, people were active which showed they really enjoyed the show. I didn't think the ending was that powerful but I was really surprised by the score. I thought it was actually really really good! The two that stood out were Caissie and Da'Vine. They both gave stellar performances and although some think Caissie was bland, I thought she showed a side of blandness but I think that was meant to be. Da'Vine was absolutely amazing in this role. She was better than Whoopi! She should definitely go places and especially with that voice. At first I thought it wasn't really that good listening to recordings but damn, live in theater its like magic. The special effects were great and I just want to see it again. I hope some people feel the same way.

BTW, the I am a frequent theater goer and I think GHOST was one of the best (or most fun) compared to a lot of others like the Disney turn into musicals Lion King, Mary Poppins(which many people love) and Beauty and the Beast which also people loved. All that were made into musicals after movies.

I watched the first preview here in Manchester Uk and was blown away by the show and have since seen the show in London etc. It's a great show, very clever and simply aims to entertain and it does. I am said it has not caught on in New York and has had such horrible comments from some.

Saw the matinee today, it was my 7th time seeing the show on Broadway. i am definitely a big fan. Yes, there are plenty of cringeworthy moments, such as the rap "Focus." But the effects are truly incredible and seeing that kind of magic on stage in front of you was beautiful. I really feel like it didn't find the audience it deserved, I know most critics were not impressed, but from my experience leaving the theatre, I always see people wiping away tears. Shows rarely move me to tears, but I definitely am moved to tears at points in the show. I believe that it is one of the better film-stage adaptations in recent years. I hope it does tour, because I feel like it will be very well received by audiences across the country.

I absolutely Love the show!
I almost went to see it in London last summer because of how excited I was (and how I loved the commercial they released)
Luckily they soon anounced it was coming to NY which was great!
I went during previews and sat 4th row and didnt like it much but that was because I was too close and missed alot of the overall effects
I went after opening (after I owned the album) and really loved it!
The score is really great and its hella better than alot of other scores out there!

Do i think its a great piece of theatre? No
Do i think its a great big amazing spectacle? No
Do i think the effects are anything great like I was expecting? No
Does it entertain and tell a story so many have fallen in love with? IT SURE DOES!

Everyone at both audiences LOVED the show!
It seemed like it would be the "date" show that couples would get out to see and the audience had a lot of couples

Im surprised it didnt do better and even more surprised at how much people and critics attacked it
I honestly enjoyed it a lot more than a lot of the mainstream success shows out there

and to be completely honest: I listen to this score incomparably more than I listen to Book of Mormon. judge me

I was also there this afternoon and quite surprised at how much I really enjoyed it. I always see everything with an open mind and tend to like almost everything (I have exceptions). I really think this show deserved better. Cassie was excellent, Da'Vine steals the show in her book scenes, and Richard... well... I felt like a puddle on the floor.

For me, what I think hurt the show was a lot of extra unecessary choreography. There seemed to be points where it was used where it didn't need to be. Too many songs had it, and too many scene changes. I also think they relied TOO MUCH on the screens and projections. Some of them were awesome. The love making montage wasn't necessary, and a lot of times when there was full-ensemble dancing, they had figures on the screens doing the same thing. Just too much. Tone down those two things, I think it could have worked better.

Back on the positive note, they nailed the emotional scenes. I'd say most of the audience was back and forth between tears and laughter, as it should be with this show. I found myself thinking a lot about the one I love and I think it really added to the whole experience set by the story. It's a strong movie, and it translates well, for the most part. I'm glad the audience responded as well as it did.
