I saw the final preview (Brantley was there) and I really loved it. It does need some work if it intends to transfer to Broadway, but it has a great start. The entire cast is amazing, not one weak link, and the material is great. The songs are all really fun or touching. I disagree with most of the reviewers who say the second act isn't strong, I thought it was a great second act. They could add another song right before the ending, but the very end worked perfectly. I never felt like the choreography got in the way, it was mostly around the Marines and matched with their attitudes. I give it an overall B+ and I think it can be an amazing show with some big and little fixes. If it does get a transfer, I see noms for Mendez and Klena. They were absolutely amazing. Oddly enough, Annaleigh Ashford was my least favorite part of the entire show, and she got the best reviews. She stuck out like a sore thumb. Everyone else's performances were very natural and engaging and her's was more of a schtick. She was funny, but she just clashed with the rest of the cast and show. This was different than most shows I've seen, and it was different in a great way. I hope this is the start of a new trend.
