So as a huge fan of Amanda Palmer/Dresden Dolls I've recently learned that they did a show, "The Onion Cellar" at ART a few years ago. After reading Amanda's blog about it which makes it seem like such a nightmare, I was wondering if anyone had actually seen it and could provide some background. With a show that features so many great songs from the Dolls, I wonder how it could be as bad as Amanda made it out to be. A very informative blog though about how things can really go wrong in the hands of the wrong people.
I saw the next to last performance. I could see how an artist like Amanda could be disappointed with how it turned out. It was fine for what it was, a series of stories with The Dresden Dolls playing between scenes. But she had envisioned something else entirely and had originally wanted to create all new songs for the show. Instead, they played songs from their catalog.
When "Sleep No More" premiered in Brookline, Amanda saw it and immediately posted something about how *that* was more what she had in mind.
