At this post, the role normally played by songanddanceman2 will be played by findingnamo:
That's an amazing performance. She was clearly in touch with her emotions and not ashamed to share that with her fans, which must drive all the haters who say how cold and heartless she is off their tits.
Happen to think the performance is fresh, startling and pretty subtle for M. It must be challenging to sing a song you've been singing 20 plus years. Good for her for reinventing it.
Namo, I'm EL OH ELLING, and I've got a story that I wish I'd had a camera for.
I don't know if I've ever told this story on the board, but several years ago I went out karaoking with friends. I'd had a grand old time and I was heading home. I'd had a couple of drinks that night, but I was totally okay to drive by that point.
I was rocking out to Hedwig and the Angry Inch in my car, and I knew after a night of singing in smokey bar (where I sounded fantastic, if I do say so myself), I knew my voice was going. At any rate, I plunged through three or four Hedwig songs on my way home, despite the fact that at this point I probably sounded worse than this Madonna clip.
Suddenly sires started blaring. I didn't think I was speeding. I'd recently patiently waited out a red light. TWO cops come up, one on either side, and I roll down my windows.
The one of the driver side shines a flashlight in my eyes while the one on the passenger side is flashing his beams through out my car.
I try to smile and say hi and the driver side cop does not try to be nice and growls, "What's going on?"
So by this point, I'm about to cry, because it was just really really scary. I'm shaking, he asks for my license, won't tell why he pulled me over and and keeps saying, "What's going on?"
Finally, he and the other cop look at each other, and I don't know if they noticed the cds scattered on the seat or what, but finally one goes, "Were you ... singing?"
And at this point I think I did start laughing AND crying. At the stoplight prior, with my windows closed and their windows closed they'd heard me massacring "Origin of Love" like I was beating my wife or something.
Love the tour, hate this performance of the song, i thought she gave a good performance though, though the tears are fake. She is a way better actress on stage than film lol
I understand she alternates the "No Fear" message with other hot, cool and contemporary slogans that the kids all say today. At one gig "FUBU" was scrawled on her back. She's so down with it.
