With so much closed or about to close, it has been manic with notices on Broadway lately, we all need to draw breathe and start a Real Estate thread, to get things in perspective of what is likely to go where.
The following theatre are dark or about to become dark:
St James - Premature failure of Leap Of Faith, so Bring It On: The Musical is taking up temporary residents, will this extend or what is next up?
Neil Simon - Jesus Christ Superstar closing Sunday, what next?
Al Hirschfeld - Anyone know what is next in line after Fela?
Broadway - Those great nuns are going to stop singing soon, who is going to start singing there again?
Shubert - Memphis doesn't live in Broadway anymore, what will?
Circle In The Square - Another biblical show gone, will the next get a revelation of a long run, what will it be?
Richard Rodgers - The Gershwins Porgy and Bess only playing until September, I got a feeling this will extend, but if it doesn't, what will fill the boots.
Stephen Sondheim - Sadly thew great Anything Goes closes in August, what will pick up the mantle?
Golden - Is dark, what will lighten it?
Music Box - One Man, Two Guvnors, surely will close as planned in September?
Lonacre - Getting a knockout show next, but unfortunately only running two weeks, whats up next?

I was told at the theater on the closing day of Seminar that the Golden theater is going to be renovated - don't know how long that process will last. Maybe they will get some seats that allow a normal sized person fit their legs in front of them!
Glad you mentioned the Golden. I'm 6'3" and have trouble with leg room in most theaters but the Golden and the Jacobs are sheer hell when it comes to sitting without turning my knees at an angle.
iNIck -- no, it's not. (Unless, of course, you are just referring to the other foolish thread.)
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.
Surely one of the new musicals will pick up the Sondheim. It's a mid-sized theater. It's not in an awful location. And it has that giant billboard above it.
"TO LOVE ANOTHER PERSON IS TO SEE THE FACE OF GOD"- LES MISERABLES---
"THERE'S A SPECIAL KIND OF PEOPLE KNOWN AS SHOW PEOPLE... WE'RE BORN EVERY NIGHT AT HALF HOUR CALL!"--- CURTAINS
Roundabout are in charge of the Sondheim and it's primarly for shows that they hope will have an extended run, when they don't have a show planned for it, it can be used for commericial productions but it'd mostly be plays or events rather than musicals.
I'd heard quite some time ago that BIG FISH was looking at the Imperial for a spring opening this coming season, but the validity of that remains to be seen.
Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.
if Nice Work continues to post numbers above $650,000; they're making a profit. And if they find a name to replace Broderick(David Hyde Pierce, please!!), it'll remain open for a while.
A Chorus Line played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013.
You can't determine that without knowing the weekly running cost, which is for the most part kept private. However many people can estimate how much it is based on size of production among other factors or it gets leaked somehow.
The Jekyll & HYDE revival is booked (for an engagement) at a Nederlander Theatre TBA in March 2013, as well. Perhaps it could be the Lunt-Fontanne if "Ghost" lasts through January?
I really hate the idea of so many Broadway theaters being dark for too long! Now that I got that out of my system I would love for Matilda to take the Shubert or the Winter Garden if that big theater musical chairs actually happens. I am also glad that the Golden is getting a much needed renovation.
I wish Matilda would announce a theatre and some dates already! I really hope Cinderella happens this season. There are not enough shows confirmed for this season, and there are too many empty theatres.
