Any talk of a “Sunshine Boys” transfer?

Brantley loved it and just looking at the production photo of DeVito and Griffiths has me in stitches!

Is there any chance and/or word of a transfer? I could be totally wrong but this just has "HIT" written all over it. I for one would be in line for first preview tickets!

Not that I've heard of, and no extension in London which is too bad because Danny Devito is a riot in this. Giving a master class of comedy. And seeing him with Richard Griffiths is a hoot.

Man, I wish it would transfer. Would LOVE to see the two of them onstage together.

I hope so. This is one of my very favorite Simon plays and the teaming of Griffiths and DeVito promises to be as heartfelt as it is hilarious.

I may be the only one around who doesn't like THE SUNSHINE BOYS. I saw the original production and felt it was little more than THE ODD COUPLE placed in a Jewish Old Age Home. Subsequent productions had me liking the play even less.

The local community theater group was doing the show a few months ago and asked if I'd be interested in doing either one of the leads, so I re-read the script with (hopefully) an open mind. I still didn't like it and turned down the offer.

I think one of the reasons I love Sunshine Boys so much, among many, is that, while I like many Simon plays, and some of them very much, here his rhythms and comic styling is for me, easiest to accept as part of the world he's created. It feels far more natural for the characters, being comics or otherwise in show business, to be reaching for a constant supply of oneliners. And what oneliners they are!

It is an excellent production, although I think they've had some problems selling it in the rather large Savoy theatre.

^ I'm really surprised to hear that. DeVito never (ever?) does stage work and Griffiths is theater royalty. Well, that would get me in the theater...guess that may not be enough for all.

The SUNSHINE BOYS is one of my favorite plays. I saw Jack Klugman and Tony Randall give terrific performances at the Lyceum many years ago. The film with George Burns and Walter Mathau is excellent, also. I would love to see a transfer from London. I think it would be very popular over here.
