That was a tough poll. I chose Anything Goes even though it was supposed to be closing. There hasn't been a production like that in a long time.

Anything Goes, but honestly, I am sad to see any of them go. AG was just such an splendid production of an amazing show!

"And wasn't ANYTHING GOES supposed to be a limited run anyway that got extended?"

Yes, it was extended thrice. It was supposed to only run to the end of July 2011, then April 2012, then till September 2012, then it was moved up 5 weeks to the beginning of August.

I can't believe that ANYTHING GOES was only ever supposed to run for only 4 months..I reckon it was a 'limited run' like NEWSIES.....purely a marketing buzz word that doesn't mean much anymore. ANYTHING GOES would have run indefinitely if it weren't for the ticket sales, I bet.

Anything Goes went to the Sondheim as Roundabout knew it would be able to have an extended run unlike the American Airlines and Studio 54 which tend to have limited runs with a few exceptions.

It was put into the Sondheim with hopes of an extended run, but it has been quite some time since Roundabout has had a show get this long of a run, so it was hardly in the league of Newsies and their "limited" run. Roundabout is still a subscriber based non-profit so when they announce the run of their shows it is best to make sure you see it during that time and not wait on the off chance that they will extend.

And, as I seem to recall, I think we have a case of hindsight being 20/20, as many people seemed to doubt a lot of decisions being made about this production prior to it opening, from the director to the star and the simple fact that it was Roundabout.

Gol--that's true of nearly any show: it would have run indefinitley if it weren't for ticket sales.

I absolutely adored Anything Goes. Sutton Foster was fantastic, and the entire production was just splendid. I am looking forward to seeing the tour with Rachel York in November.

Definitely Anything Goes. It's pleasantly infectious. I was expecting so much more from JCS. Good intentions, bad delivery.

Even though it ran its course, I will so miss Anything Goes. Both Sutton and SJB were perfect in the lead and the whole show was just spectacular. If only Broadway shows could last forever...

Actually, my favorite part of Anything goes (aside from the show simply being a true gem of American musical comedy) was Joel Grey. I hope he ends up doing something else on Broadway, although it is unlikely since he had reservations doing this show. August 5th could very possibly be the last time he sets foot on a Broadway stage.

The quality of the Anything Goes revival was amazing. Every aspect of the show was great including Sutton. Kathleen Marshall did an excellent job with this production

"Gol--that's true of nearly any show: it would have run indefinitley if it weren't for ticket sales."

That is true, but occasionally there does seem to be genuinely limited runs that close regardless of ticket sales (DEATH OF A SALESMAN and THE NORMAL HEART are two recent examples that come to mind).

None are worth saving. THE SCOTTSBORO BOYS should have been saved.

Out of this list, I pick PRISCILLA... but I'm still chapped that I don't get to see Raul Esparza, even if it was in LEAP OF FAITH.
