Watched this on Cable last night, again for I don't know how many times. I have to express how much I love this film. From Streep's richly comic & campy performance, to the fantastic special effects and Danny Elfman score. Why no BD love for this? The Extra's that they could include for this would be amazing. I would love just to see how the special effects were done. One of my favorites.
I think that's one of the reasons nothings been done with it. I remember Universal planning a big elaborate laserdisc set with all the cut stuff but there were all kinds of legal issues. But I'm hoping that after 20 years they can work it out or just give us an F'in letterboxed DVD, even!

It was released recently on, I believe, the Playstation Network, in letterboxed HD. I found a torrent of it a bit ago, and just watched it last night. It looks fantastic. I really hope a BD release isn't far off.
If Universal prepped the film for HD cable showings, I'm really hoping they're planning a rerelease.
