End of the Rainbow or Peter and the Starcatcher?

Depends on when you would go. If you would catch Borle, then I would probably go with Peter. Although, both shows are (as has been said here) VERY different. I really don't think that you could go wrong with either. If you are a big Judy fan, then by all means go and see End of the Rainbow, Tracie Bennett gives one hell of a performance, I love watching that woman perform.

I saw End of the Rainbow today. I really didn't like it much at all. Would have rather been taking a nap with my yorkies.

While I enjoyed END OF THE RAINBOW, you absolutely *HAVE* to see PETER AND THE STARCATCHER. It's a MUST-SEE!

I beg to differ. Tracie Bennett indeed gives one hell of a performance, but if you are a big Judy fan, by all means go and see Peter and the Starcatcher.

Oh, gosh! I would love to see both. Untimatley, I would choose Peter.

'broadwaybox.com. also, the TKTS booth usually has some good seats in the orchestra for about $65. you can try the lottery first and, if you lose, walk a few blocks to times square and grab a ticket.'

Thank you for that, brilliant help there, a English high five is on the way to you.

I am arriving in New York, next Friday, so hope to see Peter and the Starcatcher, for that evening or Saturday matinee, I heard this is going to be Chrisian Borle, last performances that weekend? If it is his last weekend, do you think the Friday and Saturday will be busier? Is the lottery busy?

The time I will be seeing it, Christian Borle will not be in it. Do you think it is still worth it??

Also I will add, I do love Judy Garland and her music. I also LOVE a good story like PATSC but I am not into very "Stupid funny" kind of humor. Does that make sense?

Then I would say go with End of the Rainbow. If you can handle the hard truth about the end of Judy's life, then you will love it. Without Borle, and based on your last comment, I would say that tips the scale to seeing End of the Rainbow.

I haven't seen Peter and the Starcatcher, but did see End of the Rainbow and would advise against seeing it. In my 30 years of seeing shows on Broadway, I have yet to see a show worse than End of the Rainbow. Save your money on that one. Sorry, but I don't get what anyone sees in Tracie Bennett's performance.

If you have yet to see a show worse then you have been lucky. Robin Williams in Bengal Tiger (the show was iffy at best), Darren Criss and Beau Bridges in How to Succeed (off key, dropped lines, knocking over props, just a mess), Bonnie and Clyde, Lysistrata Jones, On a Clear Day, and leap of Faith, just to mention the ones in the last two seasons that I can come up with off the top of my head that are worse either due to production quality, casting, individual performances, the show itself, or other reasons.

End of the Rainbow isn't the show to see if you can't handle a beloved figure like Judy Garland being stripped down to her troubled core, but it is by far NOT even in the bottom dozen shows of the last season. The play itself is not the best, but Tracie's performance IS. You would be hard pressed to find a play out there with a leading lady that brings that level of energy to the stage. And if you can't see Borle, and judging by the comment you made about the type of humor that you don't like, I would say that Peter is probably not your best bet. Frankly, I would actually recommend Harvey or The Best Man, or Salesman if you want to have another option.

Hahaha thanks for all the responses everyone! That's funny because I thought Bonnie & Clyde was outstanding! hahah Not sure what I will go with yet though. Is one easier to get at TKTS than the other? That will also be a determining factor. haha!

Well End of the Rainbow will be at TKTS without a doubt, peter probably will as well, just probably a smaller discount. But if you want to bank on something being at TKTS, it would be End of the Rainbow.

Porgy.

End of the rainbow. Mcdonald is out till July 3rd due to inflammation of the vocal chords. she gives one hell of a performance, but, at least in my opinion, she is much of what is good about this production of Porgy and Bess.

Well....since the poster is missing Borle, she likely will be there for Audra's return.

I really liked Porgy. Other than having known SOME of the music and the basic storyline, I went in pretty cold to this. I thought the performances were top notch and (as much as I adored Steve Kazee in Once) was really rooting for Norm Lewis to get the Tony Award.

Ah, I completely forgot about where this threat started. Yes, if you are there on the 4th or later, go see Porgy. You will be in for a treat. And it will be a TKTS as well.
