Random side note: WTF MANDY PATINKIN IS INIGO MONTOYA?! How did it take me until this morning to realize that?! As a huge fan of THE PRINCESS BRIDE and Mandy, I am truly embarrassed.

I'm really thrilled that this show is getting a full cast recording, as I was really, really disappointed (and furious at Really Useless) that the 2006 production didn't get one.

But I'm a bit concerned that the tracks that they seem to be using are the same ones that went to the Tony voters. I heard those and didn't like them. The orchestra sounded both tiny and tinny (especially compared to the orchestra on the London CD, which was augmented) and I didn't think any of the three stars sounded their best on it. Elena sounded bizarrely acute and raspy (such that I preferred her on the 2006 album, and that didn't do her justice), Ricky stumbled over his words in 'Buenos Aires' and there was something a bit off about Cerveris too. I really hope those aren't the tracks they release, or if they are, that the rest of them are of a higher standard.

They should have recorded Superstar instead. This won't replace the Patti and Mandy recording on my ipod and we already have a recording of Elena Roger massacring the score. No need for a second.

Well, quite a few us wanted to hear Elena Roger "massacre" the entire score, not just highlights. Call me a sadist if you like.

JCS already has TONS of recordings, not that I'd complain about another. The only complete recording of the stage Evita from the UK/US is the OBC.

^Yes Cats, heaven forbid someone actually act during don't cry for me Argentina. How disastrous, how horrible. (I have no problem with the rest of the recording, LuPone is brilliant but that one song is such a 'look at me i can belt', i don't get the love for that.)

Ricky Martin's moronish interpretation of "High Flying Adored" proves he doesn't get this part AT ALL. A misconceived mess.

You can tell they're really coaching her on scaling back the accent.

On the London recording during You Must Love Me she says, "Frightened you'll sleep away." In the video it's very clearly "slip." And during Don't Cry, "invited them een" has become "invited them in."

Edit: I'm losing it. Just listened to the London recording and she pronounces slip with the short i sound. Still, the accent is improving.

Also, I think Ricky Martin's wrong about High Flying, Adored. What he's describing sounds more like the waltz.

Elena sounds incredible. Ricky Martin's earnestness is nauseating. He talks like a patronizing grade schooler.

From what I've heard, Elena is not delivering those vocal performances on stage consistently.

Im def buying the CD now.

Wow, Elena, while still not the vocal power of LuPone, Paige or others, sounds MUCH better in this video then the London Revival Recording.

Elena sounds wonderful. I saw the show twice and found her to be a very compelling presence.

Ricky was the big disappointment for me. Blah.

Wait, they're going to include a Spanish version of "Don't Cry for Me Argentina" as a bonus track on the recording? Elena sounds strident when she attempts to sing the songs in English, as if she's overcompensating, but the little snippet of her singing in Spanish was lovely. It's like Penélope Cruz and her awful Spanish accent in English language movies, it detracts from her performance, but when she acts in her mother tongue she's wonderful.

That's another song that just happens to be called No Llores Por Mi Argentina, but it has nothing to do with Evita.

I hated her performance but I give her props- she sounds great. Maybe she is meant to be heard,not seen on stage. Maybe it's the director's fault that she and Ricky are wrong for their roles, cause directorily, the show is so wrong.
