More Democratic incompetence. Running a boring, bland candidate that lost to Walker the first go round? Yeah, that's a smart idea.

And again, the Republican Fourth Reich is unfazed by Democratic Spinelessness. We're in deep excrement, folks.

For this once, Roscoe, I agree with your gloominess.

I was not really enthused this would be successful when this is the same state that sacked Russ Feingold in favor of a corporate overlord pretty recently.

So Roscoe, what did you do in this fight? How much did you give? Did you ride a bus up to Wisconsin and go door to door?

There was no spinelessness here. Republicans wanted it more. More money, more people, more voters.

It's depressing but the news from Wisconsin last night wasn't ALL bad. It appears the Democrats have regained control of the State Senate. That will virtually shut down Walker's radical agenda. Plus Obama pretty much trounced Romney in the exit polls. So that's good news too.
And, like others have already mentioned, it looks like Mr. Walker might be indicted soon. So maybe he'll be leaving the Governor's office in handcuffs.

What would Scott Walker be indicted on? Can someone post a link?

"An investigation by the Milwaukee district attorney’s office into misconduct by people tied to the controversial Wisconsin Republican during his two terms as county executive is circling closer to Walker, with one reporter alleging this week that the governor has become the target of both the probe and a separate federal investigation.

The D.A.’s John Doe investigation into associates of Walker during his time as the Milwaukee county executive, launched in 2010, has to date led to charges against six people, including Walker’s former deputy chief of staff. While Walker himself has not been charged with wrongdoing, the investigation is ongoing and over the past seven weeks Walker has transferred $160,000 from his campaign to a legal-defense fund that he maintains is to cover the expense of cooperating with the probe."

It seems the investigation centers around embezzling money from a fund for veterans.

Investigation zeros in on Walker

Interesting -- thanks, Erik. These things don't often come to much, though, do they? Fourth Reich politicians are generally above the law.

Illinois has been quite successful at putting our corrupt governors in jail. I am sure the next-door neighbors have picked up a few tricks.

By the way cities in California are now voting on pension reforms. People are getting fed up with paying high taxes and having reduced services to pay for over the top benefits. Try having your employer pay for your medical coverage for the restfor the of your life even after you go to another company

What about old Obama. He was consplcuous by his absense.

I agree with Roxy. We should have a socialized, single-payer health care system in this country.

It really is amazing that for some reason the right wing noise machine just can't stop talking about Obama not getting involved in this election. Why do they think that is so damning?

Well considering Obama trounced Romney in the exit polls he could have made a difference. HuffPo is reporting that the numbers that came out in 08 for Obama did not come out yesterday for Barret. Obama may have changed that too. But unfortunately political courage is not one of Obama's strong points.

No, he would have not made a difference. The reason most swings states ARE swing states is because voters look at the CANDIDATES, not just the party affiliation. Barrett was a weak candidate.

Michigan is another state that often has local leadership affiliated with the party that's out of power at the national level.

The exit polling also showed that 60% of the voters felt it was not right to recall someone over policy issues when there had not been an allegation of misconduct/malfeasance.

I do not like Scott Walker, but I can understand that sentiment.

Walker (or the Koch brothers) also played the recall just about perfect, and had a 10X funding advantage.

Elections have consequences, and absent clear evidence of malfeasance, 60% of those voting felt recalling Walker was an overreach based purely on policy positions.

When you have an uninspired candidate (kind of like Martha Coakley in Mass) and an electorate that already has reservations about the process, recalling a sitting governor with a 10 fold funding advantage is next to impossible.

In my opinion.

The reason the Democrats lost that recall vote (the first time a recalled governor was able to keep his seat, ever) was because the Democrats who were running the recall were BATSH*T CRAZY!!!

Yeah! The Lt. Governor will hopefully DIE from CANCER before "we get to her"! Will Eric Holder investigate this threat against the life of a government official?

See what I mean? BATSH*T CRAZY!

Looks like Wisconsin may have been just the beginning. Here is what happened in liberal California:

SAN DIEGO, June 7, 2012 – Hear those alarm clocks ringing from the West Coast? It’s a big wake-up call for America’s public labor unions, and they better not hit the snooze button.

While the nation focused on Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker’s victory, the passage of two pension reform measures in the cities of San Jose and San Diego is likely to embolden other fiscal conservatives and taxpayer advocates across the country, triggering a revolution of reform.

Voters overwhelmingly approved initiatives that overhauled retirement benefits for city employees in an effort to get overwhelming pension obligations under control. In San Diego, a super majority two-thirds of all voters approved Proposition B; that number was 70 percent in favor of the similarly named Measure B in San Jose.

1) the Washington Times is a right-wing rag that will print anything.

2) You've got to hand it to Republicans. They have use their near-total control of the nation's media to somehow convince people that it's the teachers, firefighters and highway workers who drove this country into the ditch and they need to be punished while at the same time convincing people that make $25,000 a year that people who make $250,000 a year pay too many taxes.
