In addition to selections from the Tony-nominated new musicals, including the uplifting Disney musical Newsies, the critically hailed screen-to-stage adaptation of Once and the new Gershwin musical comedy Nice Work If You Can Get It, the 66th Annual Tony Awards will feature performances from a host of this season's musical revivals.
Playbill.com has learned that two-time Tony winner Bernadette Peters, the recipient of the 2012 Isabelle Stevenson Award who created the role of Sally in the Kennedy Center and subsequent Broadway production of Follies, will introduce the segment spotlighting that Tony-nominated Stephen Sondheim-James Goldman musical. Danny Burstein, a Tony nominee for his performance as Buddy Plummer, will perform Sondheim's "The God-Why-Don't-You-Love-Me Blues."
A medley of songs from the Tony-nominated revival of The Gershwins' Porgy and Bess, featuring 2012 Tony nominees Audra McDonald and Norm Lewis, will be performed. Four-time Tony winner McDonald will kick off the sequence with the classic Gershwin ballad "Summertime," followed by Lewis' rendition of "I Got Plenty of Nothing," the Kittiwah dance sequence, Tony nominee David Alan Grier's "It Ain't Necessarily So" and the McDonald-Lewis duet "I Loves You Porgy."
The Tony-nominated revival of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice's Evita will offer the rousing Act Two number "And The Money Kept Rolling In," which features Grammy winner Ricky Martin and the musical's ensemble as well as leading lady Elena Roger.
Audiences can also expect performances from Tony nominee Josh Young and the cast of the Tony-nominated revival of Jesus Christ Superstar as well as the acclaimed revival of the Stephen Schwartz musical Godspell.

Wonder if they'll let Elena sing at all on during this performance. They really should have planned a medley with "Don't Cry for Me Argentina".
I just see Bernadette presenting the Follies segment in her "Losing My Mind" dress... as Buddy's Blues starts she just creeps across the stage trying to do Losing my Mind
still no word on what the new musicals will perform, if "Leap of Faith" will do something despite being closed & if we'll see something from "Ghost" as well. I would imagine "Ghost" could get something if they're letting "Godspell" perform.
Wow, this is going to be a boring telecast. There are so many wonderful songs from FOLLIES, but they went with "Buddy's Blues"?! And I understand that they want to show off Ricky in EVITA, but he was terrible on The View a few weeks ago singing "And the Money Kept Rolling In". The guy does not know what to do with his hands! They couldn't do a medley to show off Elena and Michael, as well? Le barf.
I wanted them to perform "Buenos Aires" too! However, they probably didn't want to showcase the weak vocals of Elena as much and rather highlight the "star" in the production that is selling the tickets and bringing all the tourists in.
The producers may have honestly "given" up on Jan after Audra has one every award so far. This includes the Drama League, which for acting is 99.999% accutuate or at least it seems like it is. I would vote for Jan over Audra, but the rest seem to disagree, while Burnstein is much more likely to pull out to win. There is the the slim possibility of Jordan pulling the upset if Disney promises him to road presenters, which still doesn't mean anything, since acting is much less political than the overall categories. So Follies if it does do a summer run, would want to showcase their top performer, who is likly to win over another performer in the cast who is nominated. For example 2 years ago La Cage performing "the best of times" to showcase Hodge because he was the frontrunner over a song that featured both him and Kelsey Grammer. They do this so the general person can put the award to the show, because many may know he won, but not all will know its for Follies.

The best part of the View performance was the interstitial showing the ensemble waiting to go on, and Rachel Potter doing a quick wave to the camera (adorable). And of course, Elena's incredibly brief interview when she says, "I have Spanish muscles." The performance was like a void and was "Le Barf" indeed!! I am kicking myself so hard now for not getting up early and bundling up for the GMA performance in Times Square - that was wonderful.
I'm sure the producers want to highlight "a performance from Ricky Martin and the cast of Evita" as opposed to "Michael Cerveris and the cast of Evita" despite the nominations. And even for the few people that tune in that are not completely familiar with everything Broadway, Ricky Martin will sell tickets. Maybe not the most inspired choice, but a safe and unexpected one none the less.
I suppose because Peters wasn't nominated, "Waiting For The Girls Upstairs" was out. I wouldn't be surprised if Burstein was chosen over Maxwell because Peters was introducing the segment.
Wish that Follies was doing a medley like Porgy & Bess (though, I wonder how short each little performance is going to be to squeeze all that in their allotted time slot?).
I kinda figured that there was no chance of doing the Mirror number (since Terri White wasn't nominated. And doesn't she have a thing against airplanes? There was no way she could drive back across the country in one day). I still wish for a "Loveland" medley.
I kinda expected that they'd choose a number featuring Ricky though...
