I've been watching all season. And all season I couldn't figure out why Phillip was still on the show. I was planning to be bored tonight because of him but his third and final song was really good. I wasn't watching the tv, but listening, and I felt like I was hearing a folk singer along the lines of Dylan. Maybe we need a new folk singer!
As for Jessica, she sings beautifully but I don't find her different or more unique than other female beautiful singers.
I think that Jessica is by far the better singer and that her worst song was better than his best. But based on previous voting patterns, he'll almost definitely win.
I think Jessica will pull the upsets all of all upsets. No one thought she'd make it to the finale and the fact that she ousted Mantasia (who I didn't like at all) I think says alot.
Absolutely Jane! To me, how is Phillip any different from Lee Dewyze, Kris Allen, David Cook. I could barely remember Scotty from last year. My point is, they have had a male singer win for the last few years and none of them have been chart breaking like Kelly Clarkson or Carrie Underwood. It's time for a girl to win and they've never had an Asian win. I think the producers manipulated the almost elimination of Jessica and it was so obvious. Also, there have been so many winners from southern states. It's time for something different!
I think Jordin Sparks was the most diverse but still, like you said Supportivemom, no one has had the success of Carrie or Kelly. Which speaking of Carrie, didn't anyone see her Oprah interview this past Sunday? What a pleasant person she is.
They couldn't be more different. He has a big time personality and she has a very big time voice. Notwithstanding their possible futures, this must be like a dream for them.
I wonder if anything that happens to either in the future will ever be as much fun as this moment when you are heading up?
It's just a shame. PP is obviously going to win. The show is never going to have another female winner... or a winner who isn't a white male with a guitar.
I only began watching this season when I found out that Hollie Cavanagh, who was cut before the semi-finals in season 10 made it to the live shows this year. It has been a good season, but not the best.
"And all season I couldn't figure out why Phillip was still on the show."
It's because of the teenage girls and young moms who vote like crazy for cute boys. They did this with Scotty McCreery, Kris Allen, and in the finale with Lee Dewyze.
Kristin Chenoweth will be performing a tribute to Donna Summer with Jessica Sanchez tonight on the finale. Jennifer Holliday will be performing as well.

I guess so. That is, if the votes really do count!
Goodness, these two finalists put the "UCK" in suck, don't they? She had an OK voice but ZERO stage presence- she seemed so awkward and took no joy in performing. And the guy was so by-the-books. He seemed like an average high school choir kid doing a solo at the spring concert.
I haven't followed this show since the Adam Lambert year. Watching 20 minutes of it last night reminded me why.
I haven't been following this season either but I watched last night. I liked that Phil Phil guy. But that's the type of music I like and listen to. The girl is a perfect American Idol. She can sing all those chasing-your-rainbows-it's-time-to-find-me kind of songs they make the idol winners sing.
..and then the show ends with that awful Scotty winner from last year. Is he doing well in the country world?
He debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart and is the first country act to debut at No. 1 with their first studio album, and at 18-years old, the youngest man to open at the top of the chart with their debut release. Last month he hit 1,000,000 in album sales which is about 2 times more than Lee Dewyze and Kris Allen sold combined.
Phillips will win. The majority of voters are are tween girls. I'll be shocked if Jessica wins. As long as there's a cute white boy in the final two, he'll win.
