Nice to see that bump in attendance for HOW TO SUCCEED's final week; same for PORGY & BESS.

it was simply a beautiful week to be in the city. this weekend the city should be somewhat quite due to the Memorial Day weekend. "Once" keeps upping its numbers, over $800K and 98.5% capacity.

Oh, wait - all the tour presenters were in town, weren't they? (Not that that would have an impact on sales...)

@Newintown
Tour presenters/tony voter usually cause ticket sales to go down because of their compt tickets
So the jump in sales is usually uncalled for, nominations usually cause a modest bump for "hit" shows like Once andNewsies, but can save shows like Peter and the Starcatcher, as it did for Next to Normal, whose sales doubled after nominations
Think about it this way if a show is selling about 80-95% of their tickets prior to nominations their is not much room for improvement because the percentage they didnt sell before nominations now has to go to Tony voters, but for a struggleing show selling 50-60% of its tickets before nominations it only has to give up less than 15% to voters and still has room to sell the rest the rest, unlike hit shows

^Tour presenters get comped seats. If anything, they'd bring sales down.

ETA: Bdn - yup!! You beat me to it.

I'm happy for Peter and the Starcatcher. The grosses were making me nervous for a few weeks there, hopefully the Tonys will help it even more.

I wonder what the Lyons would need to keep running? I mean the numbers seem low, but the show is only 5 people, maybe a few big salaries, but the running costs can't be too much. It's not really a "desirable" theater space, so.. I wonder if it can keep going the way it is.

It's also noteworthy that last week was the week of graduations at many of NYC's colleges. A lot of families in town.

GHOST attendance increased by total gross decreased? Interesting...

Also with those Jesus Christ Superstar numbers, I wish CATCH ME didn't close. It was doing much better than JCS is now at the Neil Simon.

If it fails to garner any TONY awards, could JCS be on its way out the door.....?
