Forgot to post this until just now, but I walked by the Golden theater this morning and noticed them removing all the seats and had the interior almost completely bare. Is the theater being fully renovated?? If so, I guess no new show can book the Golden until the fall.
A Chorus Line played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013.
Wow they didn't waste that much time gutting that out after Seminar left. I guess they figured now was a good time since it wasn't like there was much waiting for a theatre.

Oh, don't worry, I'm sure the benefits of this renovation will be passed along to theatergoers in the form of a "venue fee" or something equally infuriating when they purchase a ticket for the next show at the Golden (or any Shubert house).
I still feel the Golden has the worst legroom of any theatre on Broadway. I couldn't believe it the first time I went there many years ago and always dread when a show I want to see is playing there.
Here's hoping this will be an improvement.

just walked by yesterday and i can assure you it is NOT just new seats and a paint job. There were large holes in the walls and ceiling of the box office area. Also, there was scaffolding all around the marquee. It looked like quite an extensive renovation.

I actually think the Lunt-Fontanne and the Kerr have the worst legroom on Broadway. The Golden, however, is one ugly playhouse. It needs some sprucing up.
I'm 6'3" and had no issues at the Lunt-Fontanne, but whe I was at the Walter Kerr no leg room at all. Luckily I was on an aisle seat, but that didn't help much. The Golden needed a refresh though.
It looks like it has a new seating chart for The Anarchist that does not match any of the other seats diagrams. Did they redesign the seating layout?
