Tonys are great, and a wonderful recognition for amazing performances, but I do believe people hold it up higher than they should. Theatre is about the experience and the performance, not the awards you win for it. There has been plenty of incredible performances and shows that have been overlooked in the past for Tonys, and I'm sure more will be overlooked in the future, but that doesn't make them any less brilliant.
