Very happy for Once. $90 average ticket, over $700K in grosses and 93% capacity. And if the show was at TKTS, it was only for 30% off. Other new musicals Newsies & Nice Work and bringing in solid numbers as well, kudos to all. Sadly, Leap of Faith, Godspell, How to Succeed & Ghost can't say the same.
If the Delacorte Theatre's production of 'Into the Woods' were to transfer to Broadway, which it probably will, the Al Hirschfeld Theatre would be a great theatre for it to play at since 'HTSIBWRT' is not going to last much longer judging by its grosses. The original production of 'Into the Woods' also played at that theatre when it was known as the Martin Beck Theatre. I also think the St. James Theatre would be a good choice also since 'Leap of Faith' is not likely to last either looking at its grosses.
I actually feel bad for the produces of Leap of Faith. More than likely the show was going to post a closing notice last week, but because of the Tony nom. they feel the need to keep it open.
Was hoping for extensions for Anything Goes & Porgy & Bess, but both look like they'll close as scheduled in Sept.
As for that average ticket price, how else were they going to sell 73% of the available seats? They certainly are trying to generate word of mouth by basically giving away the show.
I have a feeling that Porgy and Bess is going to slowly but steadily pick up as this month progresses, and other things start to close. I do believe it will win Best Revival and Best Actress and very possibly Featured Actor for Phillip Boykin. That said, I imagine that the September closing date will remain in place.
ggersten - Obviously, they'd have to sell those tickets at a price, but when your average ticket price is that low, it's just hard to actually believe it's real or that a show can really stay afloat with such a figure.
How can you feel sorry for producers who put up more money for a show that was already in trouble, got one nomination, and decide to keep the show open b/c of that ONE nomination- the show probably should never have made it to NYC in the first place, but it did, that being said, to continue to raise money for a show that is not going to find an audience at this point is beyond stupid.
Side note: if they want to continue to throw millions of dollars away at a clip, I would be happy to forward them my routing number and bank acct info
Spider-Man is most definitely losing steam. Let's hope they did under 1.2 mil for a while... since that was at one time what was said to be it's weekly nut.

I'd like to second this motion and gladly give them my personal information as well.
It's just absurd to think these people actually believe their ONE pitiful nomination would be grounds to suddenly give them a miracle of turning around. It's just embarrassing itself now, and it's just sort of sad in a way, I suppose.
A lot of the freebies for Broadway shows go to things like fringe press organizations and distribution through not for profit theatrical entities (Theatre Development Fund, Broadway Cares, etc.) -- its not so much that huge blocks of tickets are being handed to audience extras or other papering services.
I don't remember the requirements for Studentrush.org, but it was easy to join. They've been getting Leap of Faith tickets for a few weeks now. Tomorrow and Wednesday's performances are up. So, if you want to see it and qualify for that, I would join. There is a $5 surcharge for the tickets, but that's it. Other events might be a different price.
I heard that if you bring Raul a slice of cheesecake from Junior's he'll give you a ticket... A whole small cheesecake and he'll let your whole group in.
Once had a very impressive Tony nomination bump as did Nice Work. Ghost is definitely in trouble. Leap of Faith is just sad at this point. These numbers look just as bad as Lysistrata did.
What's unfortunate is Peter and the Starcatcher. I was hoping for a nice Tony nomination bump especially since it received the most nominations for a play but I guess time will tell if it can find an audience.
