Melissa deserved a nomination, but I love when this sort of thing happens and I'm thrilled for Elizabeth. Clearly the Tony committee was very impressed with her acting, singing, dancing and violin skillz.

I'm sure people will be paying her a lot more attention in 'Once' now

it just goes to show that people need to stop making 'lazy' predictions by thinking that stars (Angela Lansbury, Bernadette Peters, Elaine Paige) are more likely nominees than Laura Osnes, Elizabeth A Davis and Jessie Mueller.

To be fair, in other years those stars may very well have been nominated. I enjoyed all their performances, but this was a very competitive year.

As much as I loved all of the women in the category, I would love it if she pulled an upset win that represents the wonderful talent of the Once ensemble. I know it won't happen, but I just love that she's made the list. I joked about her being nominated months ago, but I recognized that it was super unlikely. To actually have it come true is so exciting. The best part is that this probably wasn't even on her radar. I doubt she even thought of herself as a contender. Imagine how she must be feeling today.

I'm so happy that she got recognized. I think she, and the rest of the ensemble in this show are fantastic and I was really hoping one of them would make a surprise appearance on the nominee list. She is a quadruple threat in the show. Congrats to her!!

We really should have an "Onion"-type news source for Broadway (and people should not be offended by where people buy their chicken).

Elizabeth was raised in a small town in Texas and is a hardcore Christian (I read) so it's likely she isn't gay friendly anyway :O

Doesn't mean she is anti-gay. You can be totally accepting of a lifestyle and still not be current on the things that affect it.
