Just wanted to gauge the board (re: THE CITY CLUB).
Has anyone seen it? If so, what's the buzz?
I only ask 'cause it's been in previews for a while, and I believe, opens on Monday.
Thanks! - M

An agreeable surprise. The book is rudimentary and could use some clarification with respect to the background of its plot line, but the the jazz-flavored score is quite good, and keeps the evening percolating. The songs are saucy, jaunty, and vibrant. I was very impressed with the smart choreography, especially considering the confines of the small space. The cast performs well, and the band is terrific.
