It definitely sounds great!! I do think the old songs with the new orchestrations work really well. The only thing that really bugs me is in "The World Will Know", about half way through someone says "and I lost my shoe!". It just doesn't make sense and it's the only thing you can hear. Otherwise great though!

I'm assuming it would make more sense in person, actually viewing the number onstage.

Saw the show Sunday, could barely hear the line and it really did not even come to my attention until I heard the recording.

The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, Tarzan, Mary Poppins and Little Mermaid are all on the Disney record label. Why is Newsies on Ghostlight and not on Disney?

^I'm not sure if it was ever officially explained, but someone on here mentioned that Disney just didn't have faith in the show in the beginning and spent very little money bringing the show to Broadway compared to all their other projects. In addition to that they didn't even spend money to record or distribute the cast album themselves in an attempt to soften the blow if it didn't sell well.

It was probably Disney just playing it extra safe. But, who knows, maybe this is the beginning of a switch to Disney using Ghostlight for the theatrical ventures from now on. I mean, since Little Mermaid I'd say they have a good relationship with Sherrie.
