Spider-Man Stuntman Suing

Was anybody at this "April 5, 2011" performance where the stuntman supposively "crashed into a wall"? I'm more surprised that we didn't hear about this mishap around the time it happened and it took this long for it to get out.

How can a stuntman sue for getting injured? Seems like an obvious and expected occupational hazard and something that would likely be addressed in the contract he signed.

If I recall correctly, Kobak said he was out for 7-8 months following the injury, before he left the show.

Cats, I haven't read anything about the case so I won't speculate on any specifics or anything but in the case of negligence a stuntman could sue and certainly win. If it was in the normal line of work, which carries certain risks, a lawsuit wouldn't go anywhere. However, if the producers failed to take certain precautions, ignored warning signs, failed safety inspections, etc. there could certainly be a case.

I remember hearing about this last spring, and I think it was actually at a rehearsal where he got flown into a wall, thus it didn't really get out.
