wow, so the Dodgers will have JCS on broadway this season and Fat Camp off broadway . From not producing anything since Jboys opened 5 years ago they are starting to get back into the game.
I've had a ton of friends go in for this, and a few of them were involved, but they haven't said anything about it. I'm not sure if it's just wishful thinking or if it's actually happening.
hmm..well we can probably deduce it. Which off bway theaters are open and which are not. if none are open then its not coming. or are there too many to count.
someone on here has to know someone in the cast. or something about it. calling all chat board voices..go out and search for information on the validity of this show and its opening...
actually this could be a fun game. whoever can find info about it first gets to make a snarky comment without any retribution. aaaaaaaand GO!
The little Schubert has been empty since Lucky Guy closed.... it actually might be perfect... but if it's going to try to fill the Little Schubert with out big time advertisement it's going to shutter very quickly.
My friend is in the show. He was in the workshop and they kept him for the off-broadway production. He does not live in New York but I spoke with him two days ago and he said he's already in New York rehearsing for the off-broadway. Is is supposed to be kept secret or something?
It's play at ATA? But rehearsing at New 42nd? I feel like they both have a lot of money and don't have a lot of money. Has anything been commercially successful at ATA?
Oh ATA? Yeah Urinetown played there and was successful... BARE played there and was unsuccessful. ATA has like four or five theatres, if it's in the big theatre, then it's actually a VERY big theatre, and would be hard to fill... I think the Big theatre usually sits empty, or rents to concerts, and showcases.... but there's NO signage... which is a big problem, and the theatre's reputation isn't all that great, but it's a black box that can be completely transformed....
I just hope they can get some ads out ASAP, at least some free publicity, a casting announcement? A show run announcement? Some ads in the gay magazines???? anything???? This show is too amazing to let it fall through the cracks. I would be super bummed :/
and you're right... New 42 screams BIG budget.... ATA seems to contradict that... unless they're transforming the theatre completely.......
OR
Maybe they're just buying all the houses out.... while they work on the show... so bloggers can't interfere with the creative process... (Just a crazy theory)
