No Poster? So I made my own

I collect Window Cards. I have been looking for an Anna Karenina 1992 starring Ann Crumb but found out one was never produced so I took my Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop and made my own. This is the 5th such poster I have created. I will post if there is any interest. The others are Around the World 1946, The Day Before Spring 1945, Three Wishes for Jamie 1952, and The Grass Harp 1971. Enjoy

I really like it! I'm into graphic design myself and sometimes come up with my own poster and even CD/DVD cover designs so I always love to see other peoples work & ideas. Thanks for sharing!

It has a '70s feel to it, particularly with the title treatment font (the one from Cabaret). I like it though!

Is that completely original or based on existing artwork for the production? Either way it's brilliant.

I wish I could take credit for the design but I took it off the Playbill cover. When I make my own posters, I like to use the original artwork as much as possible. Thanks for your comments.

I don't even think I've ever seen the Playbill for it. Anyone have a copy they can scan?

Here is the Three Wishes For Jamie poster. I took the artwork from the cd cover. This one was hand drawn with acrylics.

We should start a thread for stuff like this! Anytime I don't like the cover of a CD or DVD, I usually create my own.

Very cool. I like you and your site is quite nice.

I have a Playbill for Anna Karenina and might be able to scan it sometime. I have a pile of stuff in need of scanning.

Heathen! was a nice surprise. I love that font. Was this really in black and white?

@addiemizner: I create CD covers for my iTunes all the time when I don't like the original. Sometimes I do it just because I want something different to what everyone else has.

This is one I did for the soundtrack to NINE:

Nice work, Carlos.

I have always wondered if the Donnybrook! cast album art reflected the window card. I always assumed, but now I know.

Here is my The Grass Harp poster. Also hand painted from an old newspaper ad. All my poster were created 14x22 just like real window cards.

Here it is hanging on my wall

Nice work WSS & Carlos!

I've posted links to my stuff here before, but it may be time to share again.

I just got a new computer, and whilst listening to Yoshimi the other night, decided to get a little creative.

I'll post a few more of my most recent designs.

Thanks! Didn't McAnuff say in an interview recently (mostly about JCS) that he was still developing it?

Your Follies window card on your deviantart is my favorite of your works! (with the current KenCen/Broadway information)

Speaking of Follies, as if I haven't shared enough of my own thrown-together posters for it, here's one poster more taken from the final scene in our lovely revival. Thrown together in the past few hours.

Love all the work being posted!! Keep them coming!

Here's my Around the World. Hand painted from Playbill lettering. I have always found the combo Cole Porter and Orson Welles interesting.

Awesome. I prefer your poster! (I love the Kennedy Center Follies illustration. The logo (as attached to it) makes me want to break things. The torn poster board idea is brilliant, but the logo doesn't jive... and I think it ends up looking cheap. Your illustration with the logo is a great improvement.)

Nice work.

I stopped linking in the fill-in boxes when I post. Just put the URL to the graphic where you host it (ie photobucket) in the main text box, then leave a space and put in the next and Broadwayworld's program does all the work for you. (look at some of my recent posts for examples).

the above samples are simply two urls (beginning with the http stuff) placed in the main dialogue box

Awesome! Thanks allofmylife! I love Hirschfeld's art and caricature perspective. In fact, sometimes, I have an insane jealousy of it.
