"Broadway 4D" sounds like a tourist trap. Not sure why they are doing this rather than simply opening it as another Broadway house. Or perhaps a permanent home for the Cirque du Soleil or De La Guarda companies.
It can't be a Broadway house because 42nd Street is too busy to lose a lane (and the sidewalk space) every so often to let shows load in and out. If there were access from 43rd Street it wouldn't be a problem.
Thanks for the video TheaterBoy! How recent is this video because I haven't heard anything new about this project? I hope it is done soon because I love the Times Square Theater!
Now I'm curious which iconic showstoppers they are doing--and who's gonna stage them, etc (Bryan Singer?). The concept art seemed to show Cabaret, Evita and South Pacific...
I admit, it still looks like something I'd love to see if I was at a theme park or somewhere else, but when visiting New York would probably not spend my time on, but it sounds like I'm not the intended audience...
From what it looked like, I saw: EVITA CATS OKLAHOMA SOUTH PACIFIC CABARET THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA SWEEENEY TODD SUNSET BOULEVARD A FUNNY THING HAPPENED ON THE WAY TO THE FORUM PIPPIN
It'll be interesting to see if they do any recent musicals, like WICKED or HAIRSPRAY.
No unfortunately I haven't been inside the theater Dollypop. I have always loved the facade. I actually wish I had enough money to renovate it and bring it back as a legitimate Broadway Theater.
