These people have no clue what they're talking about or what they're een mad about. If it wasn't so pathetic it would be funny.

I thought we became socialist when LBJ signed Medicare into law or when FDR created social security or Lincoln signing the Homestead Act.

It's only because Tea Baggers are so damn ignorant that they say this stuff. My local paper had an article ranting that the supreme court affirming the ACA was against the constitution.

From the NYT:

"Senator Rand Paul, a Republican from Kentucky and the son of former presidential candidate Ron Paul, issued a statement that seemed to suggest that the court doesn’t even have the authority to make the ruling. It read in part: “Just because a couple people on the Supreme Court declare something to be ‘constitutional’ does not make it so. The whole thing remains unconstitutional.”

I know that Schadenfreude is fundamentally at odds with the Buddhist principles I try to embrace, but...Wheeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!

When asked by Chris Wallace of Fox 'News' about how the GOP would address the 30 million uninsured if they repealed the healthcare law, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell answered, "That's not the issue". That about sums it all up.

I want to believe that the Republicans give a damn about America and the American people, and that the policies they espouse represent a good-faith belief in a path to those ends.

The debate around Obamacare, however, reveals them to be the mean-spirited, selfish hypocrites that they are: Obamacare is a Republican approach to providing better-quality health care to a larger portion of the nation's population. Designed by Republican strategists and first implemented, in Massachusetts, by the Clown who is the presumptive Republican nominee for President.

Because it was proposed and implemented nation-wide by a Democratic President, however, the GOP is hell-bent on destroying it, with not a thought given to its content or possible efficacy. If millions of Americans are left worse off as a result of their actions? "That's not the issue!"

"Obamacare" is basically the same (with a couple added provisions that seem UN-controversial) as the Republican counter-proposal to Hilary Clinton's single payer proposal in 1993.

It would have been interesting to see what would have happened if Ted Kennedy had proposed it during Bush's term.

Staring down the barrel of bankruptcy, an Arizona State University doctoral student with Stage 4 colon cancer who ran out of insurance money to cover his treatment decided he had nothing to lose by tweeting the CEO of his health insurance company and asking for help.

Much to Arijit Guha's surprise, Mark T. Bertolini not only responded, but by the end of their two-day conversation, the CEO of Aetna agreed to cover "every last penny" of his medical bills.

"The system is broken, and I am committed to fixing it," Bertolini tweeted last Friday.

Guha had been paying $400 a month for a fairly robust student health-insurance plan, but after being diagnosed with cancer last year, the 31-year-old's expenses quickly mounted, surpassing the plan's $300,000 lifetime cap.

Yeah: College student $400 a month premium lifetime cap of $300K. At least one person who got suckered by that plan will get his moneys worth
