He would be great in a Secret Garden revival.

I just watched Angels at the Wilma yesterday, and the play really does change when you have a good Joe. I didn't think Wilson was terrible in the miniseries, but honestly, no one in it was great except Jeffrey Wright.

I think the Angels in America film is almost impossibly good, although I think that less now than I used having experienced (in some cases very closely), some really great stage productions. I always thought Patrick did a great job as Joe in the film, but agree that in the years since, I've discovered how much stronger the plays (especially Perestroika) can get when you really have a kick-ass Joe. However, it's also only fair to point out that there have been some textual changes to Perestroika that also strengthen the character, and give him more to do. One of the most notable changes in the new Perestroika script is that there's some added Joe material. If I remember correctly, the Wilma doesn't start performing Perestroika for a few months yet, but if you go back for Part 2, be on the lookout for the new stuff.

My feeling when I saw the film on HBO was, "Good for Tony! He finally got it right."

I guess somebody has heard our call to see more Patrick Wilson on Broadway ... unfortunately they are just crappy videos from 'The Full Monty' (http://youtu.be/LEImUnhPE1w) in 2000 and 'Oklahoma!' (http://youtu.be/UdDmPgzQ9NY) in 2002. Still, it is cool to see a bit more of those performances.

I'm going to guess that Patrick Wilson has more movies in the works. Just hearing that Insidious 2 and Prometheus 2 might be needing his services. I'm assuming there is a lot more money to be made with those endeavors than a Broadway musical and who can blame him if that is true? Just wish those of us who have never seen him on stage would get a chance some day. Movies seem to just scratch the surface of his skills. Next time I better post before I imbibe and not after.

Patrick Wilson tweeted last night that he would be working on the sequel to Insidious soon and that after that was over he would be working on doing something on Broadway or maybe off-Broadway. So there is still hope. I'm guessing he is getting a nice paycheck for Insidious 2 given the first movie cost $1M to make and grossed $99M or so. This is also probably why a more imminent Broadway show fell thru. His movie "The Conjuring" (also directed by James Wan) is also to be released on January 25, 2013. Patrick is also going to be in an episode of HBO's "Girls" next year.

The answer is "sort of." Patrick Wilson is going to be performing/hosting in the Broadway Blows Back Benefit at the Gershwin on Monday, November 26. He's also been connected with the following movies and it is doubtful he will be coming back to a musical/play worth a trip to NYC anytime soon: Insidious Chapter 2, Stretch, Caught Stealing, Zipper, and Prometheus 2. He has also finished filming The Conjuring, Space Station 76, and something for HBO's Girls with Lena Dunham.

As others have alluded to in this thread, Wilson was attached to play Jasper in the Roundabout's DROOD revival this fall before film and TV commitments made scheduling problems for him unavoidable.
