Well- my daughter and I tuned in to the end last night and both thought it was so scripted! Personally- I don't think a 14 year old deserves 5 million. She did a great job but she is still very immature. I also think Nicole should have been forced to make a decision- but then we wouldn't have anything to talk about today now would we! I like watching talent but hate the manipulation of Simon Cowell!
puh-lease-did you guys hear Rachel telling Nicole-"Don't cry, Nicole, I'm OK either way" And then Nicole called the standoff. When it was announced that whoever got the most votes would stay, Rachel was grinning ear to ear and nodding her head yes. All confident. Then she lost and took a tantrum worthy of a toddler.
I still say that she and that little boy were too young and immature for this competition.
haha, maybe Rachel was auditioning for an acting career, gasping and moaning and wailing after collapsing to the floor. LOL! Did you see the tight shot of her and her mother, facing each other in profile, and Rachel sobbing "Mommy, but you PROMISED!!!!!"

^Ha! Exactly Jane! My daughter yelled out What the... to the TV- especially when she went down to the floor and what was it that Mommy promised? Pathetic!
to the comment about Rachel saying "Mommy, but you PROMISED!!!!!" If you watch the video you see Rachel's mother saying "Its going to be ok" and Rachel says back to her mom "Mommy, you promise?" At first when I heard it I thought the same thing, but then I watched it back and saw what was really said.
I never liked Rachel to begin with so I was happy to see her go last night. And her reaction proves why she's not ready for something like this, even though she's a girl and needs her own bathroom.
And if this show comes back for a 2nd season I'm praying they replace Nicole. I didn't know it was possible for a human being to cry as much as she does. When she does I hope her eyes are taken and studied.
I don't get all the hate for Nicole. She didn't make the decision to send Little Orphan Annie home; America did. She got the lowest number of votes. End of story and who cares? Personally, I'm glad to see the little brat go.
If Nicole had just said, "I think Rachel should go home," it would have been just a singing show judge making a bad decision, no big deal. But instead she copped out of doing her stupid job because she didn't want to look like the bad guy and wept and wept as if the great tragedy was that she had to make that choice. She gets paid abundantly to make that choice and she sure as hell wasn't the one getting fired, so my sympathy for her was very limited.
"I don't get all the hate for Nicole. She didn't make the decision to send Little Orphan Annie home;"
Actually she did with her decision for the standoff. Anyway, who cares-Nicole will probably be better off not winning, just as the runnersup on AI are better off. And I don't think Maracus will win either.
No. Nicole didn't make the decsion to send Rachel home. By leaving it up to viewer votes, the spoiled brat was sent packing by America. Sorry. But thems the facts. Nicole would be getting just as much heat, if not more, if she voted to send her home. So I guess the only way she wouldn't have pissed off so many people would have been to vote Marcus off. Well, maybe, like me, she thinks that Marcus deserves to be there more than Rachel. Or maybe she felt they both, equally, deserved to be there. Who knows and who cares? Maybe the people giving her so much grief for leaving the decision up to America (like every other talent competition on T.V) should have made a few more calls for their girl Rachel. Anyway... I'm sure that "Annie" has a future in the entertainment business and will make enough money to buy her family that bathroom they always wanted.
I guess it's up to interpretation. I see it as Rachel going home because of Nicole's decision, but as we both said, Luscious, who cares?
And no, as you said, she didn't decide to send Rachel home, but her decision caused her to go home. I guess that's where all the hate is coming from. Why do you hate Rachel so much?
I can't stand precocious kids. Never could. Didn't like her from the very first time she performed. In fact, I don't like that the age minimum for the show is 12. I don't think 12 and 13 year olds should be competing against adults. Regardless of how talented they may or may not be, they're not emotionally equipped to handle the pressure and rejection, as was evidenced by her reaction to being voted off. "Mommy... you PROMISED!!!" And for the record, I couldn't stomach Astro either. His arrogance and cocky attitude were a major turn-off, and he also proved himself to be as immature as his years. I was glad to see him go, as well.
