She's terrific and I thought she was a standout in Drood, but it is still shocking how fast she's climbing the ladder of Bway leading ladies! She was even mentioned on Smash this week as likely to be cast in a fictitious new musical.
Saying her performance in "...Clear Day..." was terrible is a bizarre statement, simply because someone doesn't like the style of music.
She's a wonderful vocalist and can seemingly sing just about any style.
She is incredibly versatile. I saw her in SHE LOVES ME in Chicago as Amalia and she was glorious. She is indeed an incredible talent. I don't know how anyone can't see that. She can do anything with her voice and she is a wonderful actress!!!
I was at the On a Clear Day Reading and thought " This is who they picked to play Melinda??? She sings out of the side of her mouth. Is quite bland in her singing and her acting. This is what follows Barbara Harris? Barbara Streisand? And Kristen Chenowith?
I then went to the Broadway Show On a Clear day.. and felt the same as the above. Just don't get the fascination with her. My opinion. She was just bland in that role.
I saw her in Drood and she did an admirable job in her character but not scene stealing or something I'd have to blog about.
